The Skoda already has competition suspension and is a fairly straight car. The interior is standard but going to look really trick with full Octavia seats and centre console. I am goint o do a seriously powerful I.c.e with all that space under the bonnet would be a crime not to. I have found my Nintendo N.E.S oldschool and about 10 games. I will incorporate this sytem somewhere in the car on a power inverter for proper retro gaming

Got car back outside my house now. Removed the fungus steering wheel cover and stuck the sud back in the garage. Can't wait to get started in next few days on the Skoda starting with the interior to free up space in the garage that is very tight. Going to start by cutting the centre bracket from the Octavia and welding it into the Estelle floor. Then carefully cutting the seat side catches from the Octavia if they can be and spot welding them into 120.. The fronts will have to be broken down and welded straight to the frames as they sit quite high up on two rails. will put pictures on when I have done this. Also need to replace the manky headlining.
Most importantly putting my new Retro Rides sticker in the window tomorrow

Put the all important RR aticker in the front window and yes I know the tax disc is out of date - that was the last time car was on road. Just noticed the speedo is reading only 37k miles - must be genuine according to old MOT's - thats fan-blooming -tastic! 1989 new 0 miles <1995 = 5064 miles 1996 = 7400 miles 1997 = 17189 miles first period off raod 2003 = 25347 miles 2004 = 28329 miles another couple of years off road 2006 = 31779 miles 2007 = 34062 miles 2008 = 36932 miles Another couple of year off road until I took it on from a dry lockup 2010 = bought it for an embarrassing and silly amount of money. 2011 = 37012 miles

Have you checked the height for the Octavia seats in the front yet? They're going to run awfully close to the roof unless you do something with he squab or the high brackets - Estelle seats sit way up off the floor.
When you got the car did it come with the Felicia engine that was previously fitted?

Going to split the original seats from the runners and likewise going to split the Octavia seats from their runners and weld the frames of the Octavia seats directly to the runners of the Estelle. I acknowledge the Estelle seats sit upon a box section that runs across the car . Sure it will be fine. Yes I did get the Estelle gearbox coupled to the 16v twincam - but it presented many problems including clearance of the ignition housing at back of the cam covers. It meant cutting through the rear bulkhead which was not my favourite idea of my brothers. Also the ignition itself was a head ache in my mind - my brother was going to put a megajolt system with a ford trigger? Also manufacturing a custom alternator mounting point and getting a relevant belt system was a bit of a chore in my mind. You can see from the picture below the rear mounting/strengthening beam is far to close to the engine. The alternator original mounting place is to the bottom and right hand side of the engine touching the beam. Also might of had to cut the beam and reweld it into a silightly different shap to accomodate this engines mounts and then fabricate a mount. The final headache was the way the engine sits at an angle - which creates more problems in oil pressure and surges - we might have put a felica sump and with baffles and we had a new adapter plate made to sit the engine up right - but the holes to be cut in the bulkhead were bigger and not keen. Bother gave the engine away to his mate which resolved all these issues. The other problem was the spigot bearing where the main shaft entered the engine. I was reliably informed copper grease would do the trick rather than a bronze washer bearing? I was not that confident. The engine would however just simpliy use an estelle clutch and original polo flywheel. I didn't share my brother slapdash way of over complicating things with bike carbs from a Honda CBR 600 if the truth be known. I would have ran with the electronic setup and satisfied with 100BHP in a car that weighs as much as tracing paper. The car was supremely fast with a 68bhp (he quoted) Felicia MPi lump with fast road cams on twin sidedraft webbers. I would have loved to have kept that engine - but owner kept engine for his Skoda 120GL project and sold offending shell to me. As for the gearbox? I am only assuming the gear box is a VW sourced unit from a campervan/beetle so should be fine up to a point but may have to get a dif sorted or an uprated camper box. Only planning on a 2.0l non-turbo Subaru lump or an older 1.8 from the older pickups. I might even condier an Alfa Sprint 1700cc on twin 40 Dels the same engine in my sud. I can't rule that out. Kennedy Engineering sell both Subaru and Alfa flatfour adapterkits for around $400 which is a tad over £280 - so will keep a tight check on the costings for this car. I am goin to get on with the interior and painting the car before the engine comes about - especially so that I can get engine bay painted before it goes in, so I don't have to mess around taking it back out. This car will probably take upto a year from now to get right.

When you got the car did it come with the Felicia engine that was previously fitted? No that engine was bluprinted and was and had fast road cams and lovely peco exhaust. He wanted £1500 for the engine and £20 for the car. Was a featured magazine car in Practical Classics in Jan 2007 so this car has a history behind it and is a well known car on the Skoda and Retro circuit. www.ppcmag.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2861

You can use a gearbox for renault 5 gtl, has 5 speeds, or rather a renault 5 alpine, and super5 gt turbo engine, you need nothing but everything fits perfectly ;D

The drive is wrong way around tho? From memory the Renault box sits beside the engine which is transverse? how would that go?

I think miilor means the Mk1 Renault 5 which used a transaxle.

Still think the engines were transverse and not transaxle type - I probably could be proved wrong.
I was offerred a 1700 16v boxer engine one of the last Alfa boxers before they went over to the dark side and using twin spark lumps. I could get the whole engine setup for £50 so might go with this and swap electronics for carbs. You can also detail these engine to look really sick.

Just measured the seats. Once the Octavia front seats are taken off the bases they measure 33 inches approx and the Estelle seats measure the same so should be a good swap. Just sat in the Estelle front just now and was thinking to myself how confy they are! Just eyed up a place for the Alpine head unit I have for car with an under dash bracket. Might make a centre console for it? It will also hold a 10.7 inch mini lcd tv/dvd/monitor for the nintendo NES and that could sit in the centre console to.
I think I have done the deal for the boxer engine complete for £50 with Ricky from the Alfa Owner forum. They produce around 155bhp and stacks of torque so should not rip the box to peices like a Subaru one would. I was offerred a twin turbo Scooby that has been smashed up for £700 today but was looking for a non turbo glx type motor.

I have split the seat frames down for all the seats today - not that interesting but progress none the less. Brother in law is coming around tomorrow to weigh up installing the Octavia seats on Estelle front frames. Looked at the Octavia seats up close. Seem they are nearly pressed together completely and nothing that can be undone. Will have to cut most of the bottoms off with a grinder or power saw.
