I understand what your saying about the N/A CVH but i was suggesting it from a different angle. If you bought an EFI xr3i you have everything there that will be a straight swap, Fuel injection tank, wheels probably will aftermarket, may have recaros in already, electric windows, central locking + alarm maybe, heated windscreen, suspension, brakes etc. The reason why i said the EFI is because you can then run a 1.8 or 2.0 litre zetec as you'll have a lot of the loom and correct inlet already but i see you really want to run bodies.
The spot lights have become popular again now and are fetching quite a bit. Not sure if the Rs ones are any different.
That is one mint mk4 though, bet your chuffed.

I see what you're saying - Good point but I don't want to be left with a shell and other parts I don't need hanging around like. Though central locking sounds nice right now, remote would be even better! Lowering and GTi wheels are the first thing I'm going to do, then new standard bumpers to make it mint all round. Then Interior. Engine will come last being as the one in it is funkydory I am mega chuffed yeah - Love it I might take the spots and the gubbins off the XR2, they are original Corellos or what ever they are called

Sold the XR2 on Sunday - Hence new stuff for the Pop First I swapped the original radio for a CD/MP3 player; which sounds amazing with the TWO standard speakers which are in mono! I picked the Escort GTi wheels up last night and have made a start on prepping them to paint dark metallick grey. One needs a tyre and two need centre caps as one is missing and another is broken. (anybody help)? The RS500 steering wheel arrived today (brilliant) So I fitted that after some buggeryingabout to remove the standard bus driver wheel (oh and the horn no longer works...)? But mucho improvmento I reckon. Before; After; I then whacked on some smoked rear lights which I got off a mate cheap - I think will go very well with the wheels once they have been fitted. Before; After; I've got some 35mm lowering springs in the post too and have done a deal for some early spec front Recaro's, so plans coming along nicely. On a tight budget for making the car go and stop faster. So next I'll be building up the collection of parts needed for Zetec with R1 carbs conversion. That's after I have a leaky CV boot replaced and a service done to the little engine that's already there for the time being of course.

I love the way this build is heading! Definitely keep it spoilerless and with Black Plastic Bumpers!

Oh don't worry about that I'll be replacing the bumper for new original ones at some point being as both are cracked and let the mintness of the car down. Definatley not adding a spoiler or any body kit stuff - Less is more in my eyes.

this should look good when done.. reminds me of the old mk4 1.3 X flow one i had.. like yours but in white.. and full of rot!!i would weld it up every year come MOT time.. before the owne gave it to me i rolled it around (back in the mid 90s) on 60mm lowering springs,RS500 rims and all the rusted paint work!! and this was before the days of the "rat" look! ended up scrapping it after the battery fell down in to the the glove box!!!and i had had enough of welding her up! she really was rotten come the end! keep the update coming on this one..

Couple of bits done today; Wheels are all now Ford 'graphite grey' but one needs a tyre, plus they need bolts, fitting/balancing which is going to cost me some dolla which I don't have right now But I am happy to get them done and looking good. I decided on red bumper strip for now then blue when the Zetec is in, along with new blue boot decals in the same text made up, RS S2 side skirts and arches and clear side repeaters/front indicators. The XR2i Recaro's I had I swapped and gained £20 with the guy I got my wheels from so nice deal done there - they are fitted feeling uber comfy and looking so much better The -35mm springs have arrived but again I need dolla to get them fitted, but I do have some front spot lights that I may whack on tmora...

Haha - You just have to pull it out slightly to start from cold Oh and bang goes by 'less is more' stuff or not changing the bumpers and indicators oops! But I have a mate with a very nice red RST which looks the nuts and another mate who has a red cabby with clears which also looks the nuts so yeah

The kit is only small though so doesnt really cover it up, I sure as hell will not be drilling any holes in the body work and am not sure how I'm going to fit the kit without ruining the paint at all, and I've got hold of one now

tiger seal will hold the kit on without drilling. But as for what it will do to your paint if you try and remove it, and cannot say.
