think I'm with every one else on this one.. less is more in the world of retro rides.. IMO (and thats all it is) drop it on the wheels you got,and roll it around like that.. don't go kitting it up, will end up looking like every other RSt wonabe!

I'm gonna try adding it with double sided foam... And yep I get what you say about the RS wannabe but, I'm not one - Why would I aspire to be stuck in a garage working on my busted turbo more than being on the road? Haha The Zetec and carb set up will leave any RST in the distance and will last a whole lot longer

Can't believe you're going to put the RST kit on this.

Can't believe you're going to put the RST kit on this. +1 Sell it and Buy an XR3I. It'll make the Zetec Conversion easier as well.

I honestly would not stick the skirts on, keep it clean, keep the bumpers and drop it 60mm, with those mondeo wheels it will look sweet, in 98 when i ran a orion i had teh series 2 rs bumper 90 spec and colour coded back bumper, but to be honest never fitted side skirts,
+2 no to the rs kit, think you will regret it, i did!

OK OK! Haha I mean, how can so many people be wrong? I WON'T put an RST kit on it! Right so, I definately need a new front bumper as the old one is not only cracked, scratched with holes, it is also only held in by two screws either side So I drilled couple of holes in it and whacked on the spots, I think they look sweeeeeeet. Just waiting on some funds so I can get the wheels and springs on - Maybe in the next two weeks. I need a 185/55 R15 tyre, alloy wheel bolts, the wheels balanced then fitted, and the labour cost for fitting the springs will most likely double the amount I paid for them?! I washed and polished the beast today then went for little pose drive with me new spots

a mobile mechanic shouldnt charge no more than £25 a corner to do the springs, although they are pretty easy to do. Mk4's only need a 30-35mm drop to get them looking low ( didnt see what your're dropping to ) Those 55 profiles will scrub.

Yeah cheers Jon, been recommended them, trying Terry at ARC tmora with Robin.
I've got 35mm lowering springs.
What are the best tyres for those GTi wheels? They're 15" and 6j, right now three of them have almost new 185/55 R15 on them.

I own Medway rs centre give me a bell if you need anything 07790195006 Glad your leaving the kit off, be a shame to ruin it! the recaros look nice 80 spec too so suit the car better imo. spots look good but genuine ford ones with the right brackets would be better though. and please get the standard rears back on lovely car though.

Nope smoked ones are staying on the rear, I like them, very subtle touch imo. I like the seats being the 88spec ones and with the red it blends in better and they are oh so comfy - Though they were stretched to fit in a Mk3 fez so are a bit squeeky now, I might need to get my mitts on more in the future, along with the interior to go with them I would like some Ford spots with brackets but these cost me a tenner compared to 70 quid without brackets or wiring. I will get Ford ones for definate but these will do for now... Where is Medway? I'm off to source a new (2ndhand) front bumper today and possibly some alloy wheel bolts... May take a trip to Liskard as well as ARC

45's would be the best profile to have on the 15's ( They will also make the look of the wheel much better ) although you might get away with 50's. 55's will look like balloons and will probably scrub quite a bit and start to destroy the tyres. If the 55's do give you grief go straight to 45's.

Its your car mate, if you want to kit it, do it, it sounds like you were gonna go the right way about it anyway, puttin it on in such a way it can be taken off with no damage to the car. Either way its a cracking little car mate, fair play

Try and get a 90 spec front bumper like this one, they are much better looking.

For a start my car was built in 1988 - Secondly I think that 90s spec bumper looks gash compared and being as it is MY CAR I think I'll make up my mind to what bumer goes on it. Cheers

I fitted the wheels a couple weeks ago now but kinda forgot to post anything anywhere.. Also sourced a new front bumper but unfortunately not gen Ford as standard ones just cannot be found anywhere. Got the rear Recaro's from a mate last night so hoovered them off and whacked them in, now all I need are the door cards to complete the inside. I put a Cd player with a USB slot in it a while back so I can charge me sat nav & stuff without having to put in a cig lighter. Got a matching rear set of mudflaps too which I'll put on soon, not purely for show but to serve the purpose of not having a build up of mud causing rust in time... Decided not to replace the engine as it's too echonomical and reliable. -35mm Springs will be on next week too so that's it in the form of mods for my beloved Pop

Escort is now complete. Had full service, new clutch, new brake hoses, drive shaft seals... Underneath is as clean as everything else, people were coming into the garage where it was creaming over it! Lucky me Just had a wash and polish/wax so took it up Eden for a little photoshoot.
