To a degree, I find dyno numbers kind of irrelevent - I'm more interested in how well it goes. My little French hot hatch rally car gave 208bhp last time it was on the dyno - doesn't sound all that much but the number of people who come up to me at events and comment how well it goes suggests otherwise.
(I'll deny it if asked and claim this post wasn't me and that I'd been hacked, but 508bhp is probably enough. To quote the late great Mark Donohue - "If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower." and it sounds like you can !!)

You have my sincere sympathy.
My dad was the source of my addiction to French cars - he died 3.5 years ago after a long illness so it wasn't unexpected. It was hard watching him waste away from the larger than life character he was, but to have lost him suddenly... I don't know what to say...

One of a couple of places I look at - I've got no complaints from the couple of times I've bought stuff from them.

Biggest thing tho, and let's all be honest about this. I can't sell it because, well... It's absolutely f***in mega! It's batshit crazy unhinged mental, like nothing I've ever been in. Looks brilliant, sounds like end of the world arriving and most of all. I built it. I've been on with this over 2 year now so another 6 month ain't going to hurt. I think that sums it up nicely. The last 2 cars I built took 4 years and then 3 years (followed by a further 2 years to rebuild after a sizeable 'off') (the hazards of competition) but the feeling when you get back in and drive it makes it all worthwhile. Keep chipping away at it and keep us up-to-date. Just think of how much fun next summer is going to be for you...

Looking at the amount of c**p in the water passages, I'd be thinking seriously about rebuilding the other engine - unless you've guaranteed surefire way of getting the c**p out of all the passages you can't get to - and be certain they're clear. On the plus side, you found the problem - as you say, some people shouldn't be allowed to touch cars.

Agreed - you are clearly generating a fair amount of pressure in the cooling system - the cap should have lifted long before either of those failures. Right royal pi55er for you - you have my sympathy. Big boost on a std engine of (essentially) unknown providence though so perhaps not a complete surprise. (Just think of what you'll get on a proper engine - something beginning with a 5 ought to be motivating )

Are diesel alternators still rated ridiculously high because they don't spin them fast enough ? 180A seems quite a lot : 16A to run a V8 (ecu, coils, etc) 20A of lights (headlights, tail, dash, etc) 8A for wipers 8A for heater fan 8A for misc stuff So 60A total assuming you're running it all at the same time. Add 40A for PAS pump so 100A is more than enough. EPAS can peak at up to 80amps on lock or dry steered tho, surely not a bad thing to have more amps output for some headway with charging surely? Yes, but the battery can supply short duration peak loads so why over-engineer things ? Seems like things are well in hand though.
