Pisser. Just as the travel ban is lifted too and you could have been ragging it round North Yorkshire. Double pisser.
Would agree it sounds like rings. For it to have been fine and then suddenly not fine, something has broken - breathing suggests ring(s). I'd start with a compression test.

Some might think that you "planned" to have to use it as your daily ...

See I actually had it like that before with the standard plate. But there's too much of a curve on the bumper for it to sit nice The pic looks like that's just flat on the bumper - I was thinking more along the lines of adding a plinth like the Alfa (or whatever the vertical equivalent is called) in order to take some of the bumper curve out. Or get a std shape style plate using the motorcycle font - 64mm tall rather than 79mm - mount it in the std place and try & sweet talk plod if you get pulled.

See I would fully agree with you. But the bumper just isn't big enough for it to sit there nicely.. Not perfect I'll admit but the trailer plate is just wrong IMHO. Would something Alfa 156 style work ?

I quite like the contrast of the yellow wheels although I do appreciate that my taste can be a bit 'non mainstream'. Hence 2nd choice would be leave them silver.
Sounds like you do need to raise it for it to be practical. Put 15mm on it and see how it looks.

If the manufacturer's towing weight is 1000kg and the 'van weighs 845kg then from a vehicle perspective that's OK.

start looking for some wider ones. Don't know if you're interested but I have a pair of Motordrive Pro4's - out of date for rallying which is why I replaced them but they're in excellent condition. I'm 6'2" & 105kg and I can sit in them all day and get out as fresh as a daisy. They're blue btw.

"Longlife" oil and variable service = short life engine. No it doesn't, it depends how you are using it. Short trips where the oil never gets warm not good but the Octavia 1.8T I've just sold had 260k miles on it - most of it by me and most on variable service intervals which tended to be 18-19k miles. Virtually all the mileage was reasonable runs, rarely less than 20 miles, on A roads. Didn't burn any oil, sailed through the emissions test, etc. Only sold it because I felt like a change.

it will never be finished Dangerous statement - started a new rally car in 2010 - 1st event was 2013 and had been evolving nicely up until 2017 when a sizeable crash forced a major rebuild (after about a month on a jig). Ideal time to incorporate a host of changes based on experience. Back out late 2019 but with a long "To Do" list. It's now finished. The "To Do" is complete. A long list of things not on the list have been done. Neater solutions for things have been found. It's been repainted - one & a half times as the 2nd batch of paint didn't quite match. It was never supposed to be finished. It was supposed to keep me busy for years. It's now so nice I'm afraid of damaging it - which is a bit of a handicap for a competition car.

Good one !
I've chamfered brackets and calipers for that touch of clearance before - you just need to be sensible.
Crack on my man !!
