Hi chaps, very regretfully my TR6 is now offered for sale It's a CP model, so the famed '150bhp' version. How much extra power it has over a CR variant is debatable, though it does have the benefit of being tax free. With 84,000 miles on the clock, it's bodily sound, with a decent chassis and certainly will not need any welding anytime soon. The current MoT runs until June, though a fresh test is booked for the end of May. The interior is decent, although some time spent fettling the carpets would improve matters. The old seats with knackered foams and diaphragms were replaced with some much better versions. The dashboard and surround are both in very good condition, while the car has a woodrim Moto-Lita wheel fitted currently, alongside a fabulously period Alba ACR-5 radio. The car has had a new battery and the original radiator recored in the last year or so, while I also had TRGB fettle the mechanicals to get it running well. This included balancing the butterflies, plus wiring in a relay to the fuel pump so it gets the full voltage required to work to the best of it's ability. It pulls really well and sounds great through the stainless steel exhaust. I've also got a bespoke indoor car cover (c£250) that will go with the car if the price is met. The car was regularly written about in Classic Car Weekly during my time there, and I'm now doing the same in my new role on Classics Monthly, so the history of my time with the car has been reasonably well documented in that regard. I also have a folder of MoTs, old tax discs and bills that cover the last ten years or so. A V888 form via the DVLA also dredged up some interesting information listing the owners from new in May 1971. The car isn't perfect however - small niggles include the hood not fitting correctly flush with the tops of the windows. Panel fit/alignment isn't great in all areas either, although often was the case from the factory anyway. Although wired for overdrive, the car currently has a straight four-speeder fitted, which has served me well throughout. I do have the original (in need of refurbishment) A-type overdrive 'box separately however, which could potentially go with the car at additional cost. The seam along the rear deck/wing interface has cracked a little lately, so that would need redoing ideally. All in all, it is a good solid TR6 that has the potential for the new owner to just jump in and go without much fuss, or easily serve as a user/improver type of job. With additional outlay, it could become a really great car, with an accompanying hike in value. With the weather starting to improve, it still turns heads out and about with the roof down. Bearing in mind the condition of the car, I firmly believe it would make a great first time TR for someone. As mentioned, it isn't concours, but then I'm not looking for £15-20k either. I'm asking £9750, but definitely open to offers. The car is based in Bath currently Interested parties can contact me on 07921 853482 or email mg261285@hotmail.com Thanks, Matt I've attached a few pics here, more are obviously available on request, although a proper viewing is best.

Now I've finished swapping a 2500 motor into my Triumph saloon, the original 2-litre unit is now up for grabs. Done 23,000 miles in my ownership, and though I've had a few issues, the engine has never given trouble. It's a BL replacement engine that has done approx 40,000 miles in total. Engine number is ME59660HE. It comes with 1.5" Stromberg carbs, exhaust manifold and fuel pump. I'm looking for £150 and can be contacted by phone on 07921 853482 or email at: matthew.george@classiccarweekly.co.uk Cheers, Matt

My colleague at Classic Car Weekly, Richard Gunn, now owns this car. It's had a fair amount of money and time spent on it, but it is now on the road. He did an introductory Team Classics report on it for the Nov 2 issue of CCW, which tells a lot more of the story. He has a thing for beige/BL products, also being the owner of a similar Allegro! Cheers, Matt

I do have the centre caps, but the clips aren't that great, so that's why they're off the car. A new set wouldn't go amiss really. No splitter unfortunately. I would take less than the full asking, but £700 is too low I'm afraid. Looking like I'm going to put the car in Anglia Car Auctions next sale on September 3, so fingers crossed it will sell there!

Hello mate. Any more pics of the rusty bits and under the bonnet? Also is it carb or fuel injection? Reason I ask is I've got an '89 Golf GTI in the For Sale section, I might be up for a swap. Don't really want to sell, but would be good to free up some cash, so just thought I'd throw it out there...

Up for sale, reluctantly, is my 1989 Volkswagen Golf GTI. I bought the car back in March, driving it up from Cardiff to Peterborough without any problems. I have moved house since then however, and now do less miles, so the need for the Golf isn't as great. I'd also like to raise funds to get my Triumph 2000 back on the road. To the car itself then - it is an 8V GTI model in Tornado Red. It was resprayed 2 years ago, so the paint looks very sharp. In the time I've owned the car I have replaced the engine mounts, rear exhaust silencer and front exhaust silencer, as well as fitting a new set of standard springs all round. It also has a set of original BBS wheels fitted, all with decent tyres. I also have a bunch of spares, including alternator, wheel bearings, engine mounts and various bits of trim. I attended the Run To The Sun VW festival in Newquay in the car, and have covered 2,500 miles so far, without mishap. With 139,000 miles on the clock, it still drives very well, and is great fun all round. Being a 5 door model, it is also surprisingly practical. It has tax until the end of September, and MoT until mid- October. Bad points - there is a slight dent in the rear panel, from when the previous owner backed into a post I believe. It doesn't really bother me, and hasn't got significantly worse in the last 5 months, but would be an easy fix as I have a pot of matching paint to sort this. The underbonnet area would benefit from a clean, and if you're being picky, then a good polish would also improve things further. As mentioned above, I'm only looking to sell the car as my circumstances have changed, and the extra funds would come in handy for other projects. I drive the car pretty much every day, and it is extremely handy to have around - so if I don't get a reasonable offer on it, then I'll happily just keep it. It is a decent example of the classic GTI, that has thankfully escaped the boy racer brigade. If you'd like to know anything more, I can be contacted on my mobile - 07921 853482 - or emailed at: matthew.george@classiccarweekly.co.uk Thanks, Matt

Hiya mate. Assuming this is a GTI, so is it an 8V or 16V? Also, what's the gearchange/linkages like? Any sloppiness or crunching into second gear??

Hi mate. Just to refresh, what's the situation with Tax/Test on this atm? Looks good, just a bit concerned that the car has seemingly been sitting around for quite a while.
