The car is on Eibach 60mm springs, often come up on the 'Bay. I have cut a coil out of these as well, I know,I know but no one does springs that will lower the car this much. I might actually get some more and raise her slightly, haven't decided yet.
The next part to go on is Bilstein shocks, if you get the sport one they are slightly shorter and designed for lowered cars

As far as I am aware these are standard cams, the head has been done very nicely and would really be a great addition to an engine build. It's been cleaned not painted as well so it has the full factory look

We are lucky that we have a MiG welder etc and over the years my and my brother have got quite an extensive tool collection which, coupled with building a few rally cars, has left us with quite a few good skills! We do everything including painting the rally cars but this one is going to a paint shop eventually, haven't quite managed an oven yet lol!

For a car that is 26 years old, especially an old Mercedes which were built like tanks mechanically but the body left a lot to be desired, I think she has done well on the rear arches. Won't be long until it's fully prepped and lovely new metal welded in until you would never know :-) Due to the above I removed the near side sill cover to have a look and some of the sill is rot free and in great condition, the front jacking point needs abit of work but the actual structural part is fine so it's a easy repair. No doubt I will find a few other bits and bobs as we move through the car but it's fairing well for her advanced years! She will be fighting fit for another 20 years soon. This would have been finished yesterday but my brother and me bought an amazingly cheap 190e 2.5 16v Cosworth for £400 and shot up to Birmingham to collect it before the seller changed his mind but the Land Rover we tow with broken down and it was 9 hours to be recovered for a 2 hour journey!!!!!! Also sitting next to the car, a better condition rear bumper without any cutouts for a tow bar and the front bumper which we are just finishing off. It has a Zender front spoiler for a Gen 1 SEC which is slightly the wrong size so we have been modding it to fit as I don't like the ones made for this car. I will keep the updates coming as long as the interest remains

Ok peoples, As I said a few post up I have taken the car off the road in this weather to address a few faults I knew about and as with any 26 year old car a few surprises. I've have trailed the rear of the car with a thoroughly good clean, rub down and the black stone chip paint to help protect her. The second purpose of the exercise was to find any hidden areas that those pesky little tin worms have taken a liking too and get them fully addressed before the gearbox conversion and eventual full body resto/paint job get done. No point in doing all that if you have got the basis right. If you look in the right hand bottom there is a small patch just above the bump stop, there is also the trail of the stone chip which gives quite a good finish and can be over painted if required. Cut, ground and fresh metal welded in before a good dab of grey stripe to protect her ready for the stone chip. I then moved across the rear of the car and found no problems and was surprised how good the rear boot floor etc was however I then found a small patch of metal in the near side arch that didn't look right. Soon attacked it with my screwdriver and this is where we are now with the side trim off. I finally finished picking and got here. Not prepped or cut yet this is just as i left it

I will keep the updates coming, going to spend the next week or so repainting the underside.
The manual conversion should be fantastic and very unique which is always nice.

I forgot to mention the history of this car, it started out as red and was ordered at Mercedes Park Lane, Mayfair by someone rather interesting. The first owner was HIs Majesty The King Abdullah 2 of Jordan! All the history for the first 14 years is all to the Jordanian embassy and it was then bought by a staff member who bought the car and ran it until last year when I got the car!! I even have the original sales invoice! It ran diplomatic plates 194 D 319 The paperwork and service book are fantastic, the bulk of history is Park lane apart from the 1500km inspection stamp which was conducted a SAMGF Monaco! The first trip he did was drive it to Monaco, how cool is that. Now I was lucky enough to get to visit Monaco a few weekends ago on a mad lads break where we drove down on Thursday night, watched the Monte Carlo rally and drove back Sunday in my brother company car, so free fuel etc! Whilst there I saw the dealership and we also noticed they have dealer reg plate plaques and badges on the cars they sell. So with this in mind I sent a cheeky email explaining the above and too my surprise the dealership sent me the below free of charge! Top dealership me thinks!

Hi Rich I think they are starting to gain a bit of respect now, there have been quite a few articles in magazines recently. They are superbly built, great when you can take something off and no clips break etc! Snap! Mine is off the ground at the moment and I am rubbing back, repairing any small rust patches and flat black stone chipping the entire underneath of the car. Thought I better do this before the manual conversion gets a hurry on. I'll get some photos up at the weekend. Glad to hear you got your one back out and she started on request, I'd expect noticing less lol. This arrived today, found a very rare original 300kph AMG speedo cluster. Just need to get a digital speedo corrector and BOOM....

AMG made alloy bell housing for the V8, as did Brabus. The input shaft is not a hard fix and is a case of making a spigot bearing to make up the difference. There are several V8 that have used either a custom made adaptor plate or cut the auo box to make an adaptor plate and the Getrag cosworth box is sitting in a few V8 Merc in the uk. There are a few W123's with V8 retro fitted with manual boxes. The main problem has been starter position meaning fitting to LHD has been near impossible. The new 6 speed over comes this because they have a starter position either side and use much smaller mordern starters.
Many American cars have used custom adaptor plates with Toyota supra boxes and there is a rare European kit that uses a custom bell housing, spigot bearing and flywheel to fit the Getrag box to the V8.
Oh and the Getrag is rated for 426 bhp but it's a bloody awful box to use and isn't a true dog leg race box it's simply a 5 speed with the internal turn around to give the illusion of a dogleg. Pure marketing according to the Merc experts I am dealing with.

Once it's done, I am hoping it will be at a fair few shows.
The gearbox options are either a Getrag from a 190e 'cosworth' , not my favourite choice but the specialist I am dealing with is just finishing the adapter plate and flywheel for the V8 with a modern 6 speed Mercedes box. As the details get confirmed I will let you know.
There were a few AMG cars that were converted to manual but it was so expensive not many were built. Also the W124 AMG manuals use the same engine with a manual box conversion. There were a few tuners swopping 6 cylinder engine out in favour of V8's with manuals so it's been done but it's quite rare.

Got to say I wouldn't use this for the daily driver, it's more than capable of it but that V8 dies like petrol and lots of it lol. I have another car for the general day to day and commute for work on my motorbike, cheaper and more fun than any car when in the rush hour etc.
The Avez A get much love everywhere I go in her

Hey Captain wow,
Thanks for the compliment, this is the result of watching way too much Miami Vice as a kid and all the 80's cop films full of drug dealer Merc's lol.
The exhaust is perfect, at cruising speeds you really would struggle to tell the difference over the standard system, there is no noise or drone at steady revs and at low speeds is quite inaudible. However on full throttle it has a great throaty roar that's not to intrusive but definitely let's you know there's a V8 up front.
Can't wait to get the manual conversion done later in the year

Had a parcel arrive this morning! Took a while to find this, it's a manual pedal box from a W126 6 cylinder that they sold on the continent . Had to translate all sorts of variations of pedal, clutch etc into German then search eBay.de until I find one.

Hi all
Due to the recent sale of my Toyota Celica ST185 GT4 I have a fully reconditioned cylinder head for sale in either SE London or Erith, Kent.
The head has been pressure tested and fully cleaned before having the port casting smoothed, it's not been ported but definitely cleaned up.
The valves have all been removed, check and reseated with new stem seal and guides.
Comes fitted with a pair of refurbished standard cam shafts fitted.
This is perfect for anyone rebuilding an engine or repairing either a head gasket failure or dropped timing belt. The price of this head is cheaper than having your own one refurbed and only requires the vernier pulley to be fitted from your old head.
£200 plus postage or collection.
