is that a standard head unit? it is the standard head unit for the 1984 -1985 Mazda RX7.... whether it was fitted in Japan at the factory or by Mazda UK when the cars arrived here, I don't know. The wiring looks a bit mickey mouse as Steve says, but it was just the way it was done.... it's definitely not an aftermarket radio. Back in the early / mid 1980's, these were very high spec, top end stereo and were also fitted to Jaguar XJ's and Range Rover Vogues. You can pick them up for a fiver on ebay these days. I've got the same stereo in my project car and if I could hardwire a MP3 input into it, I'd probably leave it in the car..... cassettes are no good to me though.... can you even still buy blank C90's?

Get yourself over to www.rx7fb.com, its a fairly new and small forum dedicated to these cars but one of the cool things they've got is a thread where people post up the ones they find for sale, and generally their opinion of them and often history if they know who's selling it etc. There's a similar thread in the 1st gen rx7 section of the mazdarotaryclub.com forum. Steve, the above link seems dead? This one links straight through to the forum... www.rx7fb.com/index.phpMIB's... if you're looking at a 1st gen, do as Steve suggests and check out the rx7fb.com forum.... there are hardly any available for sale in the UK that aren't flagged up on there... .

Hi Steve,
car's shaking down well mate... Are you going to leave it stripped out inside or put some bins in the back like the US spec cars? Stripped out road cars are a bit grim to travel in I find...
