You can do the rods 2 at a time (1 and 4, 2 and 3), just mark the caps for number and direction before removal, and do the removal at BDC so you can push the rod up away from the crank and check the upper halves, as they are the loaded side and tend to get damaged first.
Mains you'll only easily be able to see the cap side. Make sure the caps are on the right way round and mark them for number and direction Unless it's only there already. Unless there is obvious damage I wouldn't bother rolling the block halves out as it's more common for people to damage the bearings trying to get them back in.
I wouldn't bother with plastigauge either, as it won't be easy to clean it out.

That's a lot better effort than that other TV build of a Pop. Shame some of it isn't up to scratch, but seeing what comes through work from professionals/experts it doesn't suprise me as there are a lot of Butch Cassidy's in the scene.

F4R should go in exactly the same place as a F7R. They're physically about the same size, bell housing pattern same etc. Neither are timing chain, both cambelt but with a chain driven oil pump.
Pretty cheap now, and off the shelf turbo versions out of the Megane 225, though how well a 340 gearbox would hold on I have no idea.

Just posted this on Instagram but thought it should be here too, as it happens a lot more often than it should. As a preamble, I need the Jazz back on the road so I can take the Carlton off the road and smash through the RRW prep. Mission objective - Get Jazz from my grandma's house to my house so I can take it for a MOT next week. Method - Dad brings Jazz to my house, take Dad home, come back home myself. Evening of 28/03 Estimated vehicle miles total - 70 miles Estimated Time to complete - 1hr 45 minutes Result - Stage 1 - Jazz to my house - 23 miles - 35 minutes - completed on schedule. Stage 2 - Take Dad Home in Vauxhall Carlton- Lights begin to dim around half way into journey. Final 4 miles on unlit roads with no lights on and gearbox stuck in high gear. Engine dies 200yds from dad's house. Fetch Mitsubishi Delica and use jump leads to charge battery. Carlton fires up but alternator is not charging. Abandon Carlton on parents drive - 23 miles - 1hr 45 minutes. Stage 3 - Get Home Myself - transfer belongings and seat cover to Honda HRV. Drive approximately 2 miles. Remember that I lost third party cover on other vehicles when I swapped insurance on Carlton. Turn around and go back. Check insurance i'd just started on Jazz to find I was insured for other vehicles after all. Set off home and complete journey - 23 miles - 55 minutes. Stage 4 - Charge battery overnight then go retrieve Carlton. Completed successfully - 23 miles - 35 minutes Stage 5 - Drive Home in Carlton, followed by dad just incase. Alternator is now charging even though I haven't fixed anything. Drive home appears to be a success until 2 miles from home a crash on the motorway brings traffic to a crawl - (x2)46 miles - 110 minutes. Stage 6 - Dad drives home. Completed successfully - 23 miles - 35 minutes. Total mileage - 140 miles (+100%) Total Time - 6hrs 15minutes (+257%) This is why I never get anything done.

Car wise not much apart from maybe a reasonably fast (300+) run at Bonneville and a go in a jet dragster would be great.
All my "I wish I could have a go" list is boats and planes which are even more unachievable.

I'm pretty sure once I've picked some suitably silly tyres up tonight, to go on the suitably silly wheels I picked up at the weekend I've got everything needed to begin RRW prep for the Carlton. Also got an eyeball as the weather as that's what's gonna make or break the plan really. Been continuing my garage clear out, got a ton of stuff to list for sale but that can wait for now.

I heard he's recreated the entire floorpan using structural leather sewn together with carbon fibre.

I would drive that but keep a couple of 5 litre bottles of water in the car just incase, and probably never need them

There aren't really designated "bays" for camping. As long as you don't take the p**s it's usually fine.
We've done some really daft builds on RR campsites before. Possibly not the best idea unless it's a car you don't care about though as it'll probably end up as a convertible and with a silly exhaust once the drinking starts.

I find it interesting that they allow "roadsters" to be displayed with the roof up. Phaetons always look pretty cool with them up, and pretty much always super super gawky with them down.
I'm pretty sure a basic So-Cal roadster would be on my lottery win daily driver list. They're one of those deals that I always think are just "nice" in a plain jane use it every day like any other car way, and from what I remember from one I got to drive were much more refined and competent than a proper traditional car.

I love the restored period kustom stuff. Most of the styling is fairly awful compared to (what people would do to them) now, but the whole "it's a custom car so any modification is better than standard" thing is a ethos that has carried on to present day.

I had no idea/had completely forgotten you had a 100e I started building it when I was 14 until I moved away at 18. It's quite a cool thing, got a full chassis under it and custom suspension to fit Sierra 4x4 running gear under the stock width shell but be very low. Unfortunately although the design is really good because I didn't know what I was doing it's seriously overbuilt and ended up heavier than a Sierra, so it'd be easier to start with another shell and make it all again if I ever wanted to do it.

Made some fairly major (for me anyway) progress this weekend. Some of you may remember my little dragster that I found in bits a few years ago. I started to rebuild it, but due to several factors my enthusiasm for drag racing disappeared altogether and its been in my garage at home ever since, getting in my way. I've steadily been building up doing engine builds from home so needed more space, so I finally got round to uncovering the dragster so it can go in my lockup. Luckily my garage is very dry so it was just dusty, so I gave the chassis a clean down and coat of some Ironlak etching paint that's good at holding back rust, then with help from Dave we got it fastened to the roof bars on the Carlton and tucked away in the garage. Much more room for activities now, and means I can get on with various jobs in the garage at once rather than only having room to do one at a time.

Cut and sleeved and not part of the car after coming off the road at lots of mph, jumping 40ft through the air and landing in a plowed field. Everything broke/bent apart from the welded area.

Have you seen the guy on here with the Nissan CG converted Midget (iirc?). Looks like a ace conversion, enough power to be fun without too much making it sketchy.
