Just had a glance at that link, it couldn't be more wrong.
On wheels that use taper or ball seat bolts the centre bore provides absolutely no "resistance" to shock loading or any of that curse word. It's literally there to make it less likely for numpties to cross thread the bolts, or wind one bolt in as tight as it will go before winding the others in. That's why there's always a .1mm at the end of the wheel centre bore number, it's a clearance fit and therefore isn't "supporting" anything.
On wheels that use straight shank sleeve type fasteners the centre bore needs to be a good fit as there's nothing else of a tight enough tolerance to centre them, but that's about it.

Can you not just run a small spacer so it clears? On alloys it's fine to run a too big/not round centre bore, but on steels I'm not sure how much of the centre bore pressing is used to add strength to actual mounting flange as the material is much thinner.

I've been having a good car fortnight. Got loads of niggly bits on the Carlton sorted that's making it even more pleasant to waft about in. Went on a tat run when it snowed, did pretty well considering. Still curse word compared to small fwd hatchbacks but that's by the by. Then got our lasses car finished and MOT'd finally, then me and the little un gave the fleet a wash which was fun. Now upto 5 out of 10 working vehicles which is nice. Spotted a Rascal parked up, see it bobbing about all over the place local but never got a pic. Along with various other house jobs I've got done it now leaves me with free time to get cracked into the Carlton to get it something like for the Weekender.

I've probably got some 19mm oil filter threaded adapter bits kicking around at work. Will check next week.

You probably won't see much by removing the rocker cover. Are you compression testing through the glow plug hole or removing injectors?

I'm not sure if a Granada manifold will fit. Even though it's a Essex V6 it's a Essex, Canada engine, not a Essex, UK which is a different kettle of fish altogether.
The engines are pretty curse word, but very cheap. Think they got up around the 200hp mark in later Mustangs which would be enough to perk it up without needing to upgrade everything else.

Probably one of these:- classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php?id=6269Apparently there are 2 left in the world. Heard about one for sale donkeys years ago when I was working at a recovery place. Rang the guy and said I was on my way for it. He phoned up half an hour later to say it had sold and to turn round so I wasn't wasting a trip. The guy who bought it (who did the old "always wanted one gonna restore it" routine) sent it round the oval.

Sorry to hear about your dad dude. Think we might have some all done ready to bolt on curse word heads at work. Customer paid for them doing donkeys years ago (after been told they were curse word heads) then fitted some good ones instead and they've been wrapped up on a shelf ever since. Can ask the question if required.

Not heard or had that problem with antifreeze before, though on a flat engine where the weight of the water is pressing on the joint I guess it could cause a problem.

Depends how much they are. They have several common problems that can make a "running" engine actually need a fair bit of repair work. Lovely bit of engineering though.

What a great story, love that you made it work even if it wasn't very reliable before jumping into a full project.

Yeah I thought it'd be full dash out. Just had a email to say that they haven't got the matrix in stock, will look for alternatives when I get chance.

You should be ok then, if its got air-con its a pull the dash out job, if its got the origional matrix it may be tight getting it out, the aftermarket ones are a weeny bit smaller so they go back in easier Cool. TBF it could probably do with the heater box removing and redoing all the seals as it sounds like it's moving a lot more air than actually comes out of the vents so I think it's probably leaking round the flap seals.

Top Man. The heater is a bit curse word so I was gonna try and flush it, makes sense to have this in stock incase it starts leaking when I do. Think you can swap them without taking the dash out in a auto by the looks?
