Well it's been going reasonably well. I went down the local cash and carry and brought a fair few gallons of vinegar. Poured it in the tank. Left it a couple of days. And so far so good seems to have cleaned the tank out a treat. Only other thing I've had to do was rebuild the clutch slave. That job went well. Not noticing the pipe had fallen on the manifold wasn't so clever. Other then that nothing exciting happening just putting on the miles

I shall give that trick a go. Will save me a few quid if it works. Don't think it's flaking off. Just general corrosion dust causing me problems

Hi. Has any one used this stuff before por15 basic fuel tank kit? I'm suffering from blocked fuel filters due to rust in the tank. And I'm not having much luck in finding a good replacement tank ( hillman hunter). So would really like to know if this stuff is any good user friendly ect? Thanks Dave

Managed to scrape this lot out the bottom of the tank Much cleaner I there now. Brought a new sender unit with a gauze fitted. And shares in RedEx. Just got it back from the mot station. So now it's mot'd passed with no advisory's. Shall get it tax'd by the weekend and into daily service. Now the fun can start I suppose

^ nice I'd advise fitting a gauze filter to the pickup in the tank before you refit it (the only time my car failed on me was when some crud from the tank blocked the fuel line where it leaves the tank). You has been warned Cheers now that's not a bad idea

When I first got it running I changed the inline fuel filter as it was a bit black. And as I was looking round today the new one was full of black fuel. It's only had a few hours running. So thought I'd best look into this. Easiest way to do this was remove the sender. Looked something like this. Then decided to have a feel inside It's like tar. So guess what Friday's job is

Well as it was all going so well. Something had to cause issue sooner or later. I had thought I had got lucky with cleaning up the stuck valves as it was running nicely. Went top put it out this morning, and the problem was back. Thai time resulting in a bent valve. So all stripped out and new parts on the way. Looking at the state of the valves it's no surprise that they stuck again. It's like tar.

Ouch! There were some on eBay a few days ago, hopefully still available. Speedy Spares probably have some too. There's a nice Singer Gazelle version on eBay at the moment. Managed to get it reasonably straight for now. That gazelle is quite nice

Thanks again for all the love. I really can't believe my luck with this one. It is very solid. With only the drivers side front jacking point needing some time with a welder but nothing drastic. Well was going to put it in for an MOT today. But fired it up to take down. There was a loud knock and a misfire. This was the result The cause was a stuck valve. Luckily work was quiet. So took the valve spring off. After two hours of spraying diesel on the valve and gently trying to move the valve it was free. MOT is going to have wait for now

Excellant news! I'm going to try my clutch tomorrow. Engine not running yet but I can put it in gear and wedge the clutch pedal down then see if I can push it. Might even try it tonight when I get in from work.................... I had wedged the pedal down over night. Didn't have much joy with that. So left it running with the pedal down. That seemed to do the trick

Well the clutch is now free. And it's had a drive around the yard. So managed to get it up on the ramp to see the damage. And was greated a nice black underside with the occasional spot of surface rust. It might even make it to an MOT before next week

Got the carb off and striped today. Turns out the poor running wasnt down to a knackered diaphragm. But corrosion on the needle and general sludge. Not allowing anything to move. Tomorrows job will be to have another go at the clutch

I've now changed my mind about this car it looks awful and i think you should sort the carb and clutch problems out and then I'll come and dispose of it for you and as its such a dreadfull looking car I'll do it free of charge? I know terrible isn't it. That mighty decent of you to make an offer like that

Lovely! Cracking colour too! Banded steelies would really work on this, but it really looks good standard. CFD Something subtle like that would look good wouldn't it

Thanks for all the positive comments. I couldn't agree more about keeping it subtle. I've got to say I'm pretty pleased with it. I didn't get much done today as I just had a quick clean off. And general poke about. I need to get a carb repair kit first. I'll try those suggestions on the clutch thank you It's a 1725 engine. It's 1 owner from new. And done 45000 miles
