This is all heading in the right direction!!! Loving the centre caps, i'd have spun the logo the other way around so 'speed shop' is at the bottom and 'Atomman' is at the top though, that might just be how my head reads things though haha
It really is mad what you can find on some classics... My mates 70 F100 has the most insane axle flip on the rear end, no locating pins on the leaf springs and butchered spring perches, the truck crabs down the road! So that's going under the knife to fix very soon!

So this vehicle purchase happened at very short notice, it popped up at auction and I simply couldn't let anyone else have it. Yes beer was involved. I've been looking for a truck for some time, serious amounts of window shopping was going on and I wanted something that was 'modern' so it could just be a 'jump in and drive' hauler... Now what was super attractive about this truck, is that it is the last year of the older body style, so kinda modern (for me) but looked kinda retro enough to still be cool, it also isn't a full size american truck, so despite looking chunky its a big-little truck, so it ticked a huge amount of boxes for me as standard... This one just happened to have a supercharger fitted and side pipes, which is what sent me in to a beer crazed frenzy and I needed to own it. It was also black, so I knew the Mrs would like it and it has room in the front for the dog to come on trips with us too. Buying something at auction is always a gamble of course, so I was expecting a few niggles... And that is what has taken the truck from a 'jump in and drive' vehicle to one that has it's own build thread. It's not going to need fully ripping apart and engine swapping (hopefully not), but just needs a proper going through, lots of little niggles fixing so I thought I would let people follow along with hilarity of fixing an auction purchase. Anyway, here it is! The first problem that needed tackling was fixing the windscreen wipers... I knew the motor worked as the wash/wipe functioned, just not the wiper speed switch, so I ordered a whole new stalk from Rock-Auto for £35 and I can now confirm we have working wipers! There are some head-scratching problems with the dual fuel tanks which really need sorting, an issue starting, which may be related and every suspension bush is knackered. The supercharger is an oldskool model, which is apparently pretty curse word, runs super hot and leaks oil, so needs a cooler and a rebuild. The vacuum fuel reference magic thingy that is meant to throw more fuel at the motor when under load also doesn't fill me with confidence and it seems to behave fairly inconsistently under boost, id like that to not lean out the motor and melt it, so that'll need tackling too. Dents and bumps that need sorting, broken headlights and lots of water leaking everywhere... So yeah, welcome to my F-150 Lots of jobs and lots of laughs ahead!

Anyone fancy a crack at this? I ran a drag and drive event a few years back under the name 'UK Power Tour' which was great fun, it seems Santa Pod and Melbourne Raceway have joined forces to host a little weekend drag & drive style event! Should be a lot of fun! I suspect there won't be much competitive racing going on, but I can't help but feel this event needs to be supported so it can turn in to something fun to do int he UK each year. SIgn ups open in the new year, there's a few of us already looking to get signed on and just have a laugh with it. I suspect I will take the F150 as the Maverick will be doing a big trip to Le Mans Classic the following weekend... Time to upgrade some bits on the truck for racing then! Full event details can be found here: santapod.co.uk/street-weekend.phpAnyone keen?

Fantastic fabrication aside, that motor is a very cool setup. Looks very cool with the twin carbs on top.

Keep chipping away at it! She will come round and will be lovely to drive once done.
If the motor starts paying up, it is the perfect candidate to stroke out to a 408ci that'll be a monster then!

Exactly as above.
The bonded in plates may be fine for wibbly wobbly race cars for super light weight (although it would still annoy me) but you really want a frame in there, should also help to sort out the imperfections in the panels, once the frame was in, I ended up bonding the inner skin to the frame, then trimmed the outer skin to match up nicely before bonding that on

When I put mine together, first built a frame from some small box section inside the door, this was then used to mount the hinges off as well as the door latches and window winder frames. Then once all sorted, fibre-glassed them together.

Looking absolutely magic all tidied up!
Is there any adjustment on the bonnet latch? Seems to not line up with the wings in some of the photos? Could just be me looking at the photos funny haha

Absolutely sensational, what an incredible find, should look sweet with that all buttoned up.
Stain it black or leave in drab olive?

Very cool project! Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds! Can you just throw boost at these stock engines non-turbo engines, or do they need built to take it? My plans differ slightly, and involve a Nitto 2.8 stroker kit rated to 11,000rpm (not that I intend to rev it that high). Well, that sir, is a bold comment to drop right in at the end there!!!! Very exciting.
