Just finished watching this earlier. I enjoyed watching it. Some bits were very predictable where some others have to be setups.
Amazing how some of the cars got battered and the owners didn't seem bothered. As for Wacky Mick Wilkes he lived up to his name for sure.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread. I have a few 1/76 models. A couple of odd balls & the rest are models of the same type as cars I used to own. I couldn't resist having a look at the Oxford website & there are more than a few models I will be getting. Some because I like the car but will never get one to the others that remind me of family owned cars from years ago.
Its nice to see Oxford producing some models I never thought I would find.
Photos to follow.

Sarcasm aside it is looking better. The front bumper bolts are fun aren't they.
I keep thinking of what colour to paint my car with.
Rusty paint keeps rearing its ugly head as one of my current options.

Your new E class looks nice. The W211 E class has aged well & still looks classy.
I owned my C250td for 10 years & only let it go as we needed something a little higher as my eldest was struggling to get in and out. My c250 was a hard act to follow so know exactly what you are thinking.

It was nice to see Edd doing what he does best. Of all the car shows on the tv and youtube I will admit I missed watching Edd China doing his thing.
I look forward to where things are going with Edd China & am surprised that he hasn't been picked up & back on tv by now.

Your van looks in better condition than the ones we used to run back when that was the current escort van shape.
I miss working on cars with my dad. I learned so much about cars and working on them from my father & we could never agree when it came to colour choices either. I remember looking through the colour chips when we were getting the paint for my first car. We must have been in there hours and I can still remember taking all the colour chips outside to look at them in the sun. Saying that it did look stunning when done. I really wish I still had it and am so tempted to paint my current car in the same colour.
The memories of working on the car with my now sadly late father is one of the reasons I have just bought another project. Working on cars has to be one of the best ways of father/child bonding. My eldest is slowly getting more interested in helping with the cars & is now starting to count down to when she can legally start to learn to drive (she is 15).

I fitted a kcv63 to the Essex I rebuilt in my first v6 car & the tappet settings were different to the stock settings. (if my memory is correct) The camshaft was marked on the end I remember that much. (its over twenty years ago since I messed with a v6 Essex engine)

That looks fantastic. It always confused me why Peugeot didn't make a 309 estate. I loved both the 309's I owned & they were really useful cars but being a estate would have taken it to the extra level.

For the ink jet printed stickers and decals I make for my models I give them a coat of ink jet fix before use.

I use a razor saw like the one pictured above. They are a lot sharper than you think and make quick work of cutting plastic.
I use my razor saws for a lot more than modelling.

The transformation of the car from the before photo to the current photo just shows all the work you have put in is worth it. It looks a 100 times better and is something to be proud of for sure.
Good work.

The old garage is being removed by a asbestos specialist as the roof is asbestos & the sides are to be treated as asbestos even though its probably not as per the local rules. The removal of the old building is not being paid for by ourselves due to the cause of the flood so I am not too concerned about the cost of removal.
Been to look at the Lidget garages this morning. I am not 100% sure what I was expecting but if we go with a prefab the pent roof type is a no go simply because there is limited headroom and it felt so small. The ones with the peaked roof seemed a lot better in that respect. There didn't seem to be any condensation or damp issues but I did notice all had some airflow/ventilation where the roof meets the walls.
We also looked at a steel garage (uninsulated type at a guess) but my wife isn't keen at all on the way the look.
The builder turned up as promised. His price was less than the other builders but still a huge amount more than the prefab garage. He did try to get his price as low as possible but he cant come anywhere close to a price that is acceptable for the garage.

The Lidget price I have is fully installed.
The builders I have approached so far are able to match the existing building size exactly but at a cost of just under double the cost of the Lidget quote. None of the prices include removal of the old garage which is a separate cost.
The compromises of the prefab garage is its 9foot 6 wide instead of 10 foot width like the current garage. The length is within a inch or so nothing in the length. I must admit I am not 100% happy with everything having to be free standing and not wall mounted like is currently if we went the prefab route. (the panels warranty is voided if its drilled) Suppose I could knock some brackets up that hang on the bolts if push came to shove.
My wife has spoken to the Lidget dealer with the concerns that have been raised over the damp, condensation and cold. He suggested we go and have a look at their demo garages to see what we think.
I suggested a steel garage to my wife at the start of this and she isn't keen at all. Saying that I also suggested just getting a 20foot container instead of the garage :-)
Hopefully the builder who is coming tomorrow will give a better quote that's not double the quote the local Lidget dealer gave us late last year.
Hopefully it can all be decided as we have a date for the removal of the old garage already that is being done by a separate company. So when its removed the rebuild can start sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. Must admit after looking at all the options none are ideal. So now its choosing the option that balances the cost/usability of the building/timeframe of build.
Security/looks/access for maintenance is a issue with one side wall being on the Boundaries between my property and the neighbours driveway and the back of the garage is hard up against another neighbours fence.
Doesn't help the house next door is currently empty and for sale so its a unknown as to who will buy it.
Going to have a look at a few of the options in the morning and got a builder coming round at lunch time to give us a price for a block build.

Thanks for the replies. Its looking like the prefab concrete is a no go then as the old garage was always dry and warm. Ive never had anything to do with a prefab garage as the old garage did the job perfectly so never even thought about changing it till the water damage happened.
Just had a look at the wooden garage options and not only are they cheaper but also come with the same guarantee as the concrete garages. Something else to add to the list. thanks again.

Thanks for your reply. The cost of a brick/block built garage is quite a bit more than the prefab garage. (the quote we got was nearly double) A used garage is also not possible due to the garage and shed being part funded due to the water damage.
Comparing the prices we have been quoted by the local installer their prices are within reason of the ebay/internet installed prices.
Ive never had a flat roofed building at all so never had any issues with them but know we will have to get a drain installed for the downpipe from the gutter on the neighbours side as the current garage has no gutters & the installer doesn't want a downpipe not going it the direction of a drain. That's the reason we were considering the flat type roofs.

Late last year saw my shed/workshop and garage flooded with 3 foot of contaminated water. It has never flooded before in the last 50 years I have lived here. Needless to say it didn't do the frames of the building much good and both the shed and garage are due for renewal. The garage was in good condition before the flood but due to its construction (wood frame with concrete/fibre sheets) its got to come down. Easiest option seems to get a prefab concrete garage put up that's as near to the same size as possible. www.lidget.co.uk/They offer 3 roof types. The apex roof which is like the current garage roof but it does possibly cause a issue needing gutters on both sides when there is only a drain available on one side. The pent roof which is their version of a standard flat roof. The mansard which is still a flat roof but with more elevation toward the front of the garage with about a extra 12 inches of headroom toward the front. The pent and the mansard don't cause any issues with their gutters as they both drain on one side only where drainage is. I have never really had a flat roofed garage before and as far as looks go my other half prefers the look of the mansard style roof. The garage is going to be 5 inches narrower than the current garage at 9 foot 6 wide and it will be 20 foot long wiith a up and over door (again a first for me). The options other than the roof type are windows and possibly a side door. I am thinking of a window in the rear and a window in the side plus a side door to make entry easier so I don't have to lift the main door all the time. The shed/workshop was used by myself for storage and as a workshop with the garage being used for storage/workshop and for storing a car if needed. Since the flooding and new builds my wife has proposed the garage be my workshop etc and the shed is going to be used to store the garden tools/mower etc leaving the garage free for my stuff and a bench at the back for the pillar drill, bench grinder and the vice. Anyone any ideas as I want to spec the garage right as I doubt I will be replacing it again any time soon. thanks

Ive got more than one car I regret selling sadly. First one was a standard black xr2 that was supposed to be a weekend plaything but ended up being a daily driver so didn't last long before I bought something bigger. Second was was a XR2 based kitcar that I said I would never sell but did. Last motoring regret was a Honda Accord aerodeck 3 door that I had transplanted a B20a into. Planned to keep the car forever but circumstances changed and needed a 4 door car so with no storage it had to go. Not even going to mention the XR3i or the 309GTI

Thanks. The extra detail parts added do bring the models to life.
The trucks have a 3 speed gearbox in forward and reverse along with working lights and indicators on truck and trailer (I use the suzies to power the lights on the trailer for that little extra).
