Discostew
I’m in a similar position in that I need something bulky transporting from Portsmouth to South Yorks.
When you say silly quotes what prices were you getting?
If you could throw some petrol money in the pot I could possibly collect for you at the same time?
Drop me a PM if interested........

Jim
North, South or central Nottingham and how soon do you need this doing?
I have a decent crane and lifting arm but am probably a little to far north to make it practical or sensible. However, I do regularly travel to see family who are within half an hour.
If nobody closer comes forward drop me a PM and sure we can sort.
Thanks.....

Sorry to hear this. I first picked-up on the build many moons ago over on turbosport and always thought it was a great concept.
Given the time, energy and no doubt money, it's a shame it's not going to be completed. But having been in a similar position I understand your decision!

MGLee - PM me your adress and I'll collect to save you the hassle of delivering!
On a serious note though, cheap BGTs are now starting to get rare especially with an MOT. Sadly I'd loose my nutsacks if I rolled up at home with another project, but £750 looks good value for something that could be used daily and improved slowly.
Good luck with the sale......

I have found memories of a running round in a series 3 in the late 80s /early 90s. Had been owned by one careful (not) builder and was completely knackered at just 10 years old!
Love the attention to detail you're giving this!

Steve - Good to see that you are still on with this. I'm sure when finished it will have been worth it!

Just about to start the same on mine. Access to the front is too tight for a grinder so I'm just considering options. I'll certainly be wathcing with interest.....

I've been meaning to bring this up to date for a small while now as two years seems quite long enough! As well as being stupidly busy at work, having a 15 mile round trip every time I wanted to work on it meant progress hasn't been swift. So much so that I decided to give up the unit space I was previously renting. Luckily, just as I was working out how I could possibly fit a car, tools and all the curse word I've gathered into a small garage, an opportunity arose to rent some space within walking distance from home (on similar terms to what I was paying before). While perhaps not quite as modern as the previous unit, I have more or less free reign at nights and weekends so all is good. Car is looking quite sorry for itself at the moment. It's not all bad news though. The interior change from brown to black is nearly complete. All fuel and brake lines have been run. Electrics are also in hand I'm determined this will be done in time to attend next year's gathering, so there will definitely be some progress in the coming weeks / months!

In process of moving units so clearing out some bits I'm not going to use in the near future. Set of 9mm ARP rod bolts for a Ford Zetec - Part number 151 -6005 (Believe ST170 variant as standard bolts are 8mm). New and unused but grease sachet split so packaging is a bit of a mess! - £25 Pair of low back seats, originally bought for my MG Midget but they were a little snug for my lard ar*e so I reused the originals. Again, unused, but they have been sat in my unit for a couple of years so not completely new - £60 Happy to post out the rod bolts at cost but seats will have to be collected - S75 (Barnsley)

Looks very well built. Unless I'm very much mistaken the exhaust manufacturer is Tony Law - good manifold / exhaust builder.
My wife has just walked past shaking her head muttering you sad b**tard!

Keep up the good work. Couple of quick questions:
The last kit I put through an IVA was last year and right on the cusp of some potential changes to the fog light requirements. I can't remember the exact changes, it was something around self cancelling when the lights were turned off - as it didn't affect me I ldidn't take too much notice! Looking at the work you're putting I assume you're working to the lastest requirements?
Also, although a work of art do the folds in the gearbox tunnel meet the requirements?
Thanks.......

Hi
Nearly ready for some tyres. Could you give me a price for a pair of 215/55/16 Michelin Premacy 3's. Sorry for being so specific!
Thanks.........

I've Been meaning to do a quick thread on this: Round 1Bought as a non-runer after a couple of shandys one evening; it seemed the obvious thing to do. Anyway, a little body modification, a few wires twisted and a can of contact cleaner later and it was sorted. With an all important top trump speed of 14mph on the flat and slowing to a walking pace (at best) on any kind of an incline. Round 2It came with a spare motor so I thought it rude not try to add it to the drive train. I did also try to pep things up by going from 24 to 36v, bu the electrics threw a little bit of a wobbly so that idea was scrapped. Speed on the flat now 18mph and also better up hills. Round 3As any full grown kid knows electrickery is all well and good, but if it doesn't brmm brmm noises it just doesn't cut-it. Latest solution identified:

Seems to be a little love for the 9-5s on here at the moment.
I'd been looking for an estate for a couple of months but kept getting outbid on ebay. Eventually I managed to find a 2006 facelifted aero estate for peanuts. It's not perfect, but it's definitely the best value car I've ever owned (and there have been a few!)
Seems we've been doing similar jobs and I feel your pain iro the subframe bushes - I did mine in situ and it's not something I want to repeat in a hurry!

Think I'd have thrown in the towel long before this point.
Good luck with this one, makes mine seem like a piece of cake!
