Hi jamason, Thanks for that - hopefully we can sort something out. I might be a little preoccupied for the next couple of weeks (or so...) since my daily driver got written off today; it was parked in an car park outside the garage awaiting a service and MOT on Sunday when an uninsured individual smashed into the front of it.... So I've got the joy of that to deal with in the first instance. Hopefully it won't be (too) painful (although given it involves insurance companies, it likely will be)...

Not sure if this is of any interest to you...? (the grill has now been swapped back to the original BTW - the above looked a bit too Barryboys for my liking...) Just finished sticking a new roof, carpets and seats in, I'm Midlands based (Burton On Trent/Derby). If this appeals, let me know....

Reattach my exhaust clamps after (hopefully) patching a leaking exhaust, try to figure out why my car stereo has ceased working since i removed it for the dash respray a few weeks back & maybe a small shakedown drive to test my new seats Catton Hall Classic car show on Sunday, then probably garden stuff the rest of the weekend...

What happened with the domain name then? I was told by someone years ago that an American club claimed rights to it..?

Lovely - used to have a 1.6 Tomcat around 2001; same early grille model, same colour, same issue with the spoiler!
Used to periodically get little white lumps of 'stuff' seeping through the spoiler on the outer sides; just pulled it off and repainted it for the 2 years i had it!
Do you have any issues with the 'boot mounted swimming pool' these used to be blighted by? I used to carry 2 beach towels in the spare wheel well to soak up the water, then ring them out periodically (due to lack of funds to get it fixed properly....)

Hopefully removing the dash from my Midget for a long overdue respray (to match the orange exterior), once i can manage to get the temp sensor out of the thermostat - likely to require a scaffolding pole on the spanner...
Hopefully fit my new hood to the frame once it gets sprayed tomorrow - assuming the weather is adequate for a quick Hammerite of the frame.
Maybe refit the seats to get them out of the way for a while whilst I'm spraying stuff.
Other than that, my first (proper) 10k road race of 2016 on Sunday, swiftly followed by putting my feet up for the rest of Sunday!

I have one of the aformentioned eBay IP cameras as a door camera; handy to see who is at your door before answering. Also I've set it up to email me with motion detection, so i can see who is at my door throughout the day (and when my post gets delivered, by whom, where they have left parcels etc...)
Fairly easy to set up as long as you can translate the manual from Chinglish, although a little IT knowledge helps. I did pay twice as much for mine around 4 years ago, so its interesting to see they have come down in price.
Now they are so cheap i might invest in a couple more of them.
And yes, basic common sense with regards to setting them up. Unfortunately a lot of the furore over these being 'hacked' were down to people using them straight out of the box with default settings; it's not particularly hard to track down a list of default passwords for devices on the internet nowadays...

Just had a nosey at their website - seems all their carpets are backed with latex....
Perhaps that's a hint I should be looking at latex backed carpets...!

I'm another advocate of Nokia HERE - i bought a new Garmin Nuvi just over a year ago, and although it is good most of the time, HERE has been faultless the whole time and has pretty much replaced the Garmin.
I do have a fairly limited data plan on my phone so the ability to download the maps beforehand is very handy.

Quick opinon wanted if i may - I'm looking to replace the carpet set in my Midget (now I've sealed and repainted the floorpan).
The old carpets appear to be rubber/latex backed, and I'm aware of hessian backed carpets also available.
Question is - which would you go for and why? The only experience I've got of hessian backed carets are those i removed from my house when i renovated it, and they were very old indeed, and disintegrating.
Is one type preferable over the other? I'm not fussed about spending a bit more for one type over the other, but I'd rather get the right ones to begin with....

A quick query if i may....
My 1975 Midget is should be eligible for tax exemption this year (manufactured in May 1975). My road tax is due end of February.
Forgive me if i misunderstand how it works, but at what point can i apply for historic vehicle class (and thus VED exemption) ?
I was on the impression that, last year, it needed to be made before 1st Jan 1975 (thus mine was not eligible), whereas this year it should be.
I've attempted to search the DVLA website, but the only info they have relates to last years exemption date cut off (see above).
And once i can apply, what documents do i need to take along to the Post Office - I've got the V11 VED reminder, V5, insurance and even a photocopy of the original reg. document from 1975.
Apologies if I'm being thick, but i thought it worth an ask...

Might be worth asking over on Hyundai Coupe Owners ClubI'm already on there (also have a gen 3 v6) and, if you register and say hello, this post below will give some clarity; Tappet searchOtherwise, try giving Tiburon Auto (Hyundai Coupe specialist) a call and they should be able to advise; Tiburon Auto
As these are not within the pre-2001 age bracket, they're probably not retro enough to be discussed on here (not going to get into that debate here though... )

Normally I wouldn't comment much on threads like these, however.... That is absolutely AWESOME! I personally have no desire for such a huge roomy wagon with a nice big V8 and many armchairs in the back, plus a bed and immensely cool looks....oh hang on, I think I do now...

Could i ask - who is the chap on the left in this photo - I've seen him in a few people's photo albums this year....? Mick Wilkes - Driver of Bluebell - the "Badford" Van with LET Ah that makes sense - i did notice in one photo he appeared to be describing Bluebell's 'off' (although i could have simply inferred that from the progression of the photos. If so, well done to the photographer!)
