wax and a drive every so often to remove standing water is what mine got before I got a garage. I also park on dirt rather than tarmac where possible as water drains away through dirt but not through tarmac. imo thats a bad idea parking on mud if you have the choice , put a sheet of plastic over mud and concrete and see which one sweats the most damp onto the plastic

they sieze like a good un , chances are oiling it is a waste of time , hacksaw .grinder or whatever to cut down each side is the only way forward , shouldnt be too bad with a decent hacksaw blade

have you tried all local places ..say within a 10 min drive for a council garage? theres empty ones near me , when i asked they gave it about the waiting list but came up within one in a couple of weeks ..might be best to call in at the office in person , mention youve had some break ins etc
otherwise make sure the drain holes are clear etc , our polo sits outside 24/7 , if i get chance i nip out and water blade the worst off and dry it , stick a couple of those damp absorbing bags in if need be

be prepared for paint blisters with a cover..i know some people get on fine but alot seem to have problems
my thoughts are wash n wax it often , if its a nice day knock the water off with a leather/cloth etc and leave the windows down when its nice out
or ask the council if you can rent a garage

id suggest you de rust it best you can
2 coats of epoxy primer ..like jotamastic or epoxy mastic , that will leave it bomb proof , if you like then go over it with some gloss enamel
that way you can wash it over and see whats happening rather than new scabs being hidden under a inch of slop
imo all underseal does is hide rust not stop it

the area circled on your pic is the head gasket ...most of them leak there
its not doom n gloom like omg the headgasket has gone ..its more of a weep on the egde , you can still replace the head gasket fairly cheap on these
for the rocker gasket...those 3 bolts are barley more than finger tight , lots of people snap them so be carefull

I purchased an AutoStorm from these chaps back in 2008... www.autopyjama.com/ - haven't had any issues so far, it's a breathable covering so doesn't suffer from the tarpaulin issues that usually happen. hth. is the car covered year round ? respray or no? do you take it off often to breath or anything

seen alot of blistered paint from covers
id hazzard a guess they're almost safe on a modern factory paint job , but older cars that have been repainted or patched up seem to blister

bit of zinc spray around the joins wont hurt it
as said decent long runs will make em last but thats not always possible
some folk drill a tiny hole at the lowest point to let the moisture drip out

ive dabbled with a few resto jobs
tbh cracks and splits kinda come back if the car used , colour changing the leather is pretty easy , would it be an option to get nicer seats and resto those in the correct colour?
