Model: Audi A4 Year: 1996 Mileage: Around 130k Tax: Expires end of April 2014 MOT: No. Pics: Look below. Location: South London Price: £250 Contact details: PM me and I will give you my number. I'm selling this for a friend. The car has done just over 130k and is in average condition. Any work needed was usually done by himself as he is a mechanical engineer so it has been well looked after, just a little tired now. Let's start with the bad points: The front bumper has a bit of lacquer peel and there are several small scratches all over the car. A small dent on the offside passenger door. And the MOT has run out. To get it through an mot it will need a headlight bulb and a brake light bulb. Depending on how well you know your mot tester, one of the abs sensors may replacing as its throwing up a light and activating the abs when it's not needed, and one of the wishbones needs its bushes replacing; but a brand new pair of wishbones are included with the car. The good points: It works. Absolutely zero rust which I find quite amazing for a car of this age. 1 month tax remaining. It comes with a nice Kenwood mp3/usb/cd head unit (probably worth more than the car). The interior doesnt appear to have much sign of wear. Alloy wheels with 4 brand spanking new tyres. Comes with some service history. Evidence that timing belt has been changed but don't know at what mileage. Rear wheel bearings replaced in the last 6 months. Now for some pics. It's pretty dirty but then again it's in daily use and it's £250. It may get a clean if it sells at the advertised price If theres anything in particular you'd like a picture of then please ask.

Why are you asking £1500 for a £500 (if that) car?

Unfortunately I don't have a garage big enough to store my car along with all my tools and equipment. So I have to make do with working on the car on the drive.
I started my project in the summer and it was fine, but now the weather has taken a turn for the worse and its increasingly difficult to do anything to the car.
For a short while I used a 3mx3m tent from argos for £20. It blew down even though I had it tied down pretty well! I'm after a new tent, preferably 3mx4.5m so I can cover the whole car, but I want something sturdy that wont break. If I have to spend £300 then so be it.
Can anyone recommend me something suitable?

The dishes on my splits have taken a bit of a battering. Someones decided to kerb the f out of them and then take a file to smooth it all down to form a square edge. The rest of the dishes are fine, its just the lips that are fubared. Thats not the main problem, the actual lips of the dishes are dented in places, so they're not perfectly circular. I'm guessing it would be possible to build the lip up again using a tig welder and then smooth it off to form a round edge. But how would I go about making the lips perfectly circular again? I have access to a machine shop so I was thinking sticking the whole wheel in a lathe and mounting a piece of nylon or aluminium bar in the tool post to pull it out/in and make it round? The wheels in question: Thanks guys!

No I cant move the exhaust as the tunnels not wide enough to allow for me to go around the shifter. Thats the downpipe from the turbo btw.
I cant just whack the shifter on top of the tunnel as it fouls the centre console. I'm aiming for a factory look. Whichever way I do it, something will have to be fabbed to bring the shifter down or above the tunnel depending on if its mounted from above or below. What do you suggest?

No, I understand what you mean. Its kind of tricky as I have to work on the car outside and the weathers taking a turn for the worse I'll try and get some pics of it all in place next weekend. Thanks for the help!

Hi guys I'm new to all this fabricating stuff. This is the first time I'm attempting something like this and i'd like to do it properly the first time, so I want to know how others would go about it. Ive got to install a cable shifter into a mk1 golf and it has to mount in the factory position, but it has to come up as high as possible without fouling the centre console. This is for maximum exhaust clearance. I've cut out the top of the centre console, thinking it would be a simple job of making up a plate and cutting out a hole for the shifter, however, I didnt anticipate it being double skinned I want the shifter to mount up from underneath, but it needs to be raised a bit, so its not just a simple case of fitting a plate flush with the tunnel. I'm using a VAG cable shifter out of an Audi A3 if anyone was wondering. You can see it a bit in the first and fourth pics, albeit disassembled. Here's pics: Ok so where do I even start with something like this? I'm totally out of my depth and have come up with a solution or two, but I'm not too sure of them. What would you guys do in this situation? Remember the shifter has to come up above the tunnel whilst allowing the centre console to fit over it. Thanks guys!

Rob did you get my text? Could you send over the email explaining how to go about the conversion, especially getting around the steering box, and also any other info you have please?

I'm selling my Golf GTI 16v (150 bhp). Its a very clean car and its pretty much faultless. Its got 11 months MOT but no tax. Its extremely nice to drive and very comfortable due to the MINT (yes it really is) Recaro interior. Its done 150k but it doesnt feel like it at all. There is a lot of service history and receipts that come with the car and it has been maintained regardless of cost. It has had 3 previous owners (me being the 4th). I had it MOT'd a month ago and it passed without any faults or advisories. Before the MOT I had the car serviced and replaced a track rod end, inner cv boot, and an oil pressure switch. The previous owner fitted mk4 style headlights and crystal m3 style rear lights. One of the headlights has a chip in it, but original front and rear lights are included should you wish to change them. There is also a Longlife performance exhaust which is very quiet but looks perfect for the car, and it has a lifetime guarantee. The interior is the main reason why I bought the car as it looks brand new! There is a Wolfsburg gearknob fitted which feels very nice and there are also mk3 cabriolet chrome door handles and metal door pins fitted. The car has power steering, ABS, electric windows all round, electric mirrors, a full closure alarm and immobiliser, front fogs, and air conditioning which blows ice cold. The only fault with the car being that the paint is bubbling up in the corner of the tailgate, but it isnt noticeable unless you look for it. I'd like £1300 but I'm open to offers. If theres anything else you want to know then don't hesitate to pm me or call me on 0773 156 6085. Thanks for looking!
