Price: £500
First of all this Pajero has some issues, of which I'm not interested in fixing due to time and money constraints. If this doesn't sell in the next few weeks I'll break it.
Issues:
1. Front brake pads need replacing (rears have been done less than 3 weeks ago)
2. I found a water leak today, it looks like the water pump, I don't know for sure
3. The heater blows cold if switched to hot
4. Either the alternator or batteries MIGHT be slightly faulty.
5. Rear tyres are legal but could do with more tread for 4x4ing (fronts have loads of tread)
More information on point 2. It's never overheated as these have a tendancy to have cooling issues, it's been in the middle since I got it. I noticed the leak tonight and won't be used again, I can't be bothered to fix it!
Point 3, the heater matrix probably needs to be flushed.
Point 4, I'm not sure what's going on. In the 4 months I've been using the Pajero (everyday) it's failed to start twice, and hasn't done it for three months. It could be weak batteries or alternator, or there could be no fault at all.
I've used this as a work horse and it wasn't very pretty to begin with, as with most of my vehicles I sell this vehicle is cosmetically challenged. There is a large dent in the rear pillar by the rear door, the sill steps are bent, the drivers side bumper cover is wired on, the interior is muddy. Don't buy this car if you plan to nitpick the cosmetic condition.
Up until the water leak, and the two times it failed to start, the Pajero has been faultless mechanically. I frequently drive long distances, nailing over 250miles last weekend alone. The rear axle has a LSD which has been invaluable during offroading sessions, easily offsetting the worn rear tyres! The 4x4 super select system works as it should and I often engage 4x4 to keep the transmission working as it should. The centre diff lock is fully working too.
It's an extremely comfortable car and being the Exceed it has all the toys. It has full leather throughout, though it's a bit worn with a few holes. The compass unfortunately isn't working! It's a 7 seater but the rear seats are for midgets/children only! Being a LWB it has a HUGE amount of rear storage space, bigger than most estates. All electrics work as they should, maybe not the sunroof though.
MOT wise, I had the car a month and it ran out of MOT. I put it in and it flew through with no trouble. It's taxed until the end of September - perhaps it would be a good winter hack! Being taxed and MOT'd you could drive it away, though I would keep an eye on the water level on your journey back.
In summary it's a solid car and with a little TLC will be back up to full greatness!
