"NOTE: Actual projects delivered may differ from illustration" - Haha! ;D this made me smile, don't they always end up not as planned! I don't know you personally but I can relate to having had one of those years that are best left behind. (mine was a few years back, lean on your true mates and life does get better, I promise!) I can only know how that felt for me, and it wasn't great. But I'll join you in toasting 2012, here's to it being a stonker not a stinker! May all our mojo's flow strong and true. Roll on, Roll out!

I known what you mean about 2011,it's not been great for me either. I've had some high points, new job and then the birth of my daughter. But as far as My hobby is concerned its not been good. But when you hit the bottom there's only one place you can go and that's up. Next year i plan some good things with my cars that will get my mojo back on track. Chin up mate and keep on posting!!!! ;D

Sorry to hear of your bad run dude.
2011 has been a year that made me realise I do far too much that I don't enjoy and far too little of my energy is spent doing what I like.
For that reason I bought another Porsche (924S) and spent some time getting myself into a workshop unit and a house that was better equipped for my hobby (I haz driveway&carport!).
Today is the AGM for a festival committe I've been involved in for a few years.. I'm going to stand down
My work life went from OK, to terrible, and is now somewhere near good.
My long standing O/H Sarah who's always been there for me nearly walked out because I stopped being able to deal with the frustration you get from not doing what you want, and it took her shaking me up and telling me to get on with living the life I used to enjoy, for me to wake up and actually do it, and if she hadn't done that, I'd be driving a TDCi Mondeo and working in a managerial job I hated, curse word my spare money up the wall or putting it up my nose with the other company execs I used to work with.
So yeah.. it's been a terrible year, I started off thinking I had to grow up, then realised that I wasn't ready for that.. I feel like a pheonix rising from the ashes a bit.
Like the sticker on RMad's cressida used to say.. why grow up?

I empathise with 2011 being cruddy. As far as I'm concerned, I'm deporting 2011 to The Past as soon as humanly possible, bring on 2012!* By seeking mojo boostiness and making this thread you're offering mojo boostiness to those of us that share in the misery of 2011. With my car in bits in the garage and my business struggling due to having been in hospital a couple of times this year, not to mention a long term relationship coming to an end it can be difficult to keep my head above water. But RR helps, and people like you making awesome contributions to the community helps. Have a Pontiac Catalina. *With the exception of the 2012 Lolympics.

You're going to grow your hair? Awesome! Seriously though, sorry to hear 2011 hasn't rocked everyone's socks and I wish I could spread around some of the good times and great experiences I've had to even things up. In the last year and a bit I have properly gotten into fixing and working on bikes and cars, bought much older cars and bikes than I ever would have done before, sorted out my garage into a proper work space and learned to weld and grind, all pretty much as a direct result of the positive mojo eminating from this forum. When I go and look at a super-cheap used Subaru tonight, I will be taking with me untold knowledge picked up from you guys.

Chin Up chap.
Were ticking over waiting for the mojo in the new year.
Lost our house in a house fire in May - Neighbours fault and still not settled with insurance company - living in a mobile home is no longer fun!
Run close with Dad and liver problems this year and currently spending each day with Mum in hospital for bone cancer.
Add in a struggling business and the strain it puts on the relationship with wife - bring on 2012...
It can only get better. Thoughts with you chap - hang in there.

well, i am in the same boat, 2011 is Nr.1 in the Top 41 of bad years ; i lost my job, got ill, lost the wife&son too and my father died. That was such a bad year, 2012 can only get better. And i think this will be "my" year .... now recovering from all that curse word, i start a new life and i begin to like it. I am making the HGV licence now, i have a job as soon as i have the licence, the house and the workshop are still mine . Most important thing is to have friends, and that's what i am glad about... i will travel to the UK in 2012 and i want to pick up an old car : well, not this one , but something similar, Dolly, Marina, or some other wibblepoo ... one good thing this year : the transporter is running very well with the new engine; more power, less consumption, nothing to worry about anymore... ;D so yeah, can't wait for 2012 ....

I think 2011 has been a rotter for quite a few people. I see what you post on Facebook, AK, and I'm amazed you stay so upbeat most of the time. Credit to your sanity fella

Good to see with such a challenging year you're thinking positively for the future. At least you still have your health, and can be thankful for that. I'm not being smartarsed : I had a mate very badly injured in motor-racing this year. He suffered the same major brain injury Richard Hammond suffered. After some very dark weeks for him and his family, he's back at work, planning projects, etc., though the recovery continues. To quote an old colleague : "any day you wake up is a good day". Chin up.

To echo everyone else, it sounds like things can only get better for you dude, and you can guarantee they will.
I’ve had an odd year. On the one hand I’m poorer than I’ve ever been and getting through each month is a massive challenge. On the other I’ve managed to land a dream job – it doesn’t pay much but I love it. When I step back and look at things then it all makes sense; I’ll gladly trade having money for actively looking forward to work on Monday morning.
PS I hope that post hasn’t come across as gloating? That was the last thing I wanted to do.

Amen brother!
As well you know, my 2011 hasn't been too great either so I'm all for being positive in 2012 and making it a good year.
I can't wait to see these projects come to fruition, and I shall keep posting random car stuff on your wall as mojo!

Yep, all the best for next year (and the rest of this year) Also lost a few friends and associates in the last 12 months including my legendary manager who got me into the motor trade. You have to reflect on these things to keep you human. Retro Rides is the source of inspiration that just makes it all OK. No matter how curse word a day/week/year you are having, there will always be someone building something really, really unnecessarily stupid or amazingly brilliant that'll just make you smile.

hello not one for these kinda posts but why not, alistairk, i wish that i could put in to words how much i love your cadillac fleetwood, and if nothing else its pimp. (when you want to sell it please drop me a pm.)
its funny this year was the fourth year of quirky classics, and it really got to a point where i was proud of it (hope everyone feels the same) but unfortunately due to changing in my circumstances over the past few weeks its looking more and more like I'm going to have to put quirky on hold,
and its the hardest decision, ive been offered a amazing job (but starts as a internship very little dollar, and no time to make it up with quirky) but its working for someone else, and I'm a self employed worker (if you get what i mean) and its driving me crazy,
strange times...
but my glass is 50% full, every if i do have to sneakily top it up every now and then!!
and I'm sorry to hear about everyones hard year, 2012 will bring fantastic times, just make sure you enjoy it when it happens!!
adam.

The one thing that keeps me going is "at least I'm not Chris Pollitt..." ;-) Aye, I know a fair few people had a shoddy year this year. Way I see it I'm getting it all over and done in one go and thats my karma sorted for a while. This forum can be very infuriating sometimes but I've met some seriously sound people through it. Y'all RAWK guys. Man hugs all round. Love that street freak / high rider Fairlane wagon. [adds to list of things to build...] Hopefully get the Cadillac finished this week... famous last words... Maybe we need more of a "mojo club" thing with more local mini-meets? Dunno, as its growing cold and dark out, what do people think?
