Righteo, where do I start.....
I got hold of this little bike after asking around for something suitable for my son's 2nd birthday. Like a lot of you guys I didnt just want to buy him something, I wanted to give him something that I had worked on and prepared especially for him.
This is what I started with (November 2011)
As you can see, it had a slight issue with rust....
Now, I was told the original engine had a problem with the kickstarter, so the previous owner had started to fit a mini moto engine into the original frame.
This wouldnt do, so I had a play with the kickstart and got it kicking over perfectly, I then checked for a spark and it was perfect!
The strip down began....
The frame just about fitted into my blast cab and then primed
This is the original Italjet sticker, I would of loved to of kept it but the tank had a series of small pin holes that needed sorting out.
The rear wheel after stripping, blasting and reassembly
Now the final red paint went on the night before his birthday, I didnt think I would be able to finish it in time. The next picture was taken at 7.15am on his birthday, in -2degrees!
And then almost finished! (still needs cables making and some parts repainting, but at least he was able to recieve it on his 2nd birthday!
