I couldnt find any debris or the vanes, maybe they're in my intercooler.
I'm guessing as it was the intercooler pipework I was working on that something dropped in, maybe a blob of weld or summat?
Would the damage seem feasable with that?

Good work buddy, hunt high and low for that debris, you don't want the engine getting the same treatment. One of the things with turbo engines, they are susceptible to debris damage much worse than normal engines. Both going into and out of the engine :/ Fingers crossed the tubby arrives soon J

110% correc
Proper brown slacks moment, luckily the alloy hinges snapped letting the bonnet escape up over the roof
Beat it back in to shape and side hinge I reckon?

How tough is that paint! Side or front hinge would be the route to go, can't flip up on you dangerously then. Lucky not to have lost the windscreen or seemingly dented the roof either.

If it's any consolation, it is physically impossible to go fast enough in a normal Standard 8 for that to ever happen, so you must be doing something right
