Got home twice this week to find number plates in the post. Amazingly, I have been looking for Arabic plates for years, and two land in one week. One from Paologray on VZI....... Thank you mate. (His dad liberated it) From Saudi Arabia with love. Tonight when I got in, another parcel, from the USA. Thank you Craptain (Andrew in Florida) who offered me these, the only one I already had was an Idaho plate. The rest are all treasures to me, and the Delaware plate....... WooooHoooo !! Not sure I have ever seen Delaware for trade.

Howzit! I'm absolutely stunned by your amazing collection of license plates....and what grabbed my attention was the huge number of South African ones, from the good old days...! I'm a South African oke living in Portugal these days, and I too have my own collection, probably not so big in number as yours, but always trying my best to add new ones, every now & then, mostly through Ebay.....so when I checked ur pics, for a moment I thought I have died & gone to plate Heaven.... So here goes my million dollar question: Apparently u only consider trading, but would u b willing on selling as well? Because I can tell you that much, I would snatch 90% of your collection, if u ever thought of throwing a garage sale.... specially because you own a bunch of Cape Province plates, from municipalities that are quite hard to find....not to mention all the others....Transvaal square rear plates, military.....I´m lost for words, literally! I'll be looking forward in hearing from you, regarding this matter! In the meantime, you can check my collection as well... Cheers

Many thanks on your prompt reply Grizz, I'll take a look on both links sometime later on....
So I take you're only interested in trading....How many plates from South Africa do u own presently, that you would b willing to trade then?
To be honest with you, I was more keen on buying, since I don't own that many plates to trade, bcoz I always managed to buy single items, rather than the whole set....However, I do have a few American ones, that I recall, along with a couple ones from South Africa....
But I can´t stop staring at your own collection & thinking how much I would get stoked, for getting hold of most of them, specially the military one (metal plate, with black characters on yellow background).
Can you tell me if I'll be able to find any collectors of South African plates, just willing to sell, on those 2 thread links?
Cheers
Roger

Well, two lots of plates landed this week. First was an unexpected parcel from Bret in Texas, included three Australian plates (Never been able to get any, despite some promises) and a disabled veterans plate. This fits into my narrowed down collecting of Military, DV, Govt etc plates. Also included was a hand made wooden Rocketship mkVI for my wife, which has her squealing with glee. Stickers from his collection, for my collection. Rocketship in place. Note my special Sheriffs badge The second parcel was a trade I did with Ben. Unfortunately the UK Customs will rape you for every penny possible. Unknowingly the value was made out to be $25.00 on the customs declaration which then attracted £13.61 ($21.40) in duty and handling fees. We all know the real value of these plates are cents, most of the value to me is inherent and emotional........ so getting bummed by the government angers me. Still, I have a load of awesome plates and just want this rant to make you guys aware that you need to really value the plates you put into international post at $1.00 each. Cool plates that all fit into my collecting.

A serious highlight this week was the arrival of an Australian number plate from 1/2 Cup of Garage Journal fame. THREAD LINK: garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225061I have had a few promises over the years of Ozzie plates for my collection, but they never actually surfaced. Then 1/2 Cup came on board and found me this one which will be added to my ever growing collection.

Boot fair bounty for today....... American plates now make £5.00 and more at swapmeets, EBay etc and and even bootfairers do not play stupid anymore. So I was chuffed to get these three for £5.00 today. The Texas one at the bottom is unusual to me, not seen one before, so any identification appreciated, as to its use and allocation.

Grizz, one of these old green ones any use to you? The black splodges are actually LTO year stickers but they don't photograph. If so, PM your address and we'll see if the Philippine postal service can manage to deliver one.

Got a cryptic message from Optimusprime a few days ago about a parcel being incoming. Today I collected a parcel at the post office. All I can say is that I was very pleased. I always looked at these old solid cast type plates, loved them, but could neither justify their cost, not afford them Now I have a bit of old English history to add to my collection.

Some new number plates today. Some from South Africa, headed for the USA soon. One from Lithuania And one from Disasterbus (Kerry) the Euro one. I have others headed my way as well. These were from the recent road trip to the U.S.A when Paul and Brandon got me a 66 Oklahoma plate and a Texas one. The vanity plate I found at a garage sale. A bit of useless information...... Sue Martin of ASM Upholstery, part of the "Fast and Loud" show, is also a number plate collector..... Here chatting to me about her collection. And a plate belonging to friend Herb John in Winfield Kansas. Contradiction...? And lastly, a plate headed my way from the U.S. From Capteric who took it of his truck for me. Looking forward to when I have all my plates back up again.
