If you can get to it try tapping the indicator relay when they wont work it could be a weak relay, i left the one on my cortina hanging down under the dash for 2 years so i could kick it to get it working every morning as for the illumination it's probably a loose bulb or corrosien on the contacts from dampness (if they flicker) or a blown bulb on the ones that don't ever work ? Well done on the MOT, even after 30 years playing with cars i get butterflys at the MOT and a great rush when it passes

I reckon my 1850 gets 35mpg+, so not too shabby. Brakes should be consistent, perhaps you are trapping air the system? The nose drive is impressive at times...
Electrical issues are par for the course, my indicators rarely flash, they usually just stick on, only certain dash lights work, horn works occasionally...

That looks pretty tough and has a good dose of Council Estate Chic about it. I like very much.

That just looks so insanely 'right' it hurts...!
What is the deal with the reversing light/s? Did you add any when you adapted the rear for the Escort lights?!

Nah i just deleted them entirely. I never had them on the mini and it was the same age, and i never actually felt i needed them so i didnt bother adding them back.

I'm fine yeah thanks. Just had a text off the bloke and apparently ive bent the back of his car sufficiently to cause 3000 quids worth of damage.
This is almost looking like the end of my driving career, ive already got one own fault accident, this would be another one probably.
Its either a cheap front end or a reshell if i can find one.

Nah, that will polish out. Seriously though I'm pleased to hear that you are OK. I've been following this thread from the start, it would be a shame to do anything rash.
You are feeling down as a result of the accident, don't do anything for a couple days and in the meantime think about how it could be fixed, before going back to it and then make a decision.

Its more my cashflow problem, I was running this on a shoestring as it was, my last 10 quid went in the tank minutes before the crash, i have no money or assets so my only choice is a cheap repair, or break it.

Thats a real shame, I have been following your work. As above, good job nobody is hurt, no doubt you have had lots of advice about what to do but from experience probably best to just wait before making a decision about the car, get everything else sorted out then take a logical look at the car.

I reckon you'd be able to pull the worst of that out, at least enough to keep it going until the MOT runs out.
Sadly it is easy enough to cause £3k's worth of damage on a reasonably modern car, but I suspect he's trying it on a bit. It does sound like its going to go down as your fault, talk with teh insurance company as yo may find that you don't get a hike this year and then see what the score is when its renewal time.
At least no one was hurt.

Damn thats a real shame to see that after the work you've put in, can only really echo what everyone else has said about being glad no ones injured and hoping something can still come of the car, though it seems its not repaid you very well for the top quality work you've put in... :/

As others have said at least no one was physically injured, although you can expect a whiplash claim tomorrow. The car doesn't look too bad at all, (assuming there is nothing you can't see and it hasn't pushed the chassis leg down) most of that would come out/ pull out even if it looks a bit rough to get you mobile again.

It will be the shittest looking dolomite in surrey but I'm going to have a go with hammers and a jack, it will need a new indicator and radiator but might live again.

Your parents are right, it'll straighten enough to be usable and you've got nothing to lose by knocking and jacking it straightish again, so glad you're not giving up. Love how it looked before, and your impending repairs will only add to its character. Now get out there and get on with it
