Had a few tinas in my time one of my favorites was an estate, in mk3 flavor though, was told back in the day, that a good upgrade for a 1.6 is to fit a 2.0 camshaft. Since its been stood so long, change the cambelt, quick and easy insurance for the valves Ttfn Glenn

Looks good, always wanted an estate, in mk 4 flavour. Great looking cars. Second 93fxdl's recommendation, had the cambelt go on one of my Cortinas. Was lucky as it went at idle and just died. If I'd been thrashing it like I normally did, it would have been game over!! See you at the next ECR meet then?

Small update, the wagon lives! Got it running over the weekend with the help of a couple of mates, wouldn't start at first but when we got to the bottom of it (dodgy coil and rotor arm) the old fella fired and ran like a dream, got him booked In at work for MOT on Thursday so fingers crossed, sorry no pics, got to involved with getting him running will get some on Thursdays MOT.
Think you're right there darren on it rusting through under the strap, looking at it after you mentioned it you can see the biggest build up at that strap point.
Cheers again for following all.

Looks very nice and it would be great to see it back on the road. Respraying the wheels silver would transform the looks IMHO.

Been a while since i updated this one, since the mot the wagon has been used as it should, doing tip runs, house moves and daily duties, i did treat it to a show, my local group did our season opener at the local transport museum, i followed My buds Carl & Moggey there in there Orions, not all has been plain sailing, the 4 week old condenser died and lead to a recovery, at 1st i thought it was a fuel issue as i was running on fumes, so i thought i had dragged some cud in the lines, well after stripping it all in halfords car park no it wasn't, got it home thanks to the AA and Carl & Moggey came round, after some fault finding and a massive back fire we pinpointed the condensor we all wrote cause it was new, fitted the old one and bobs your uncle, however it was now far louder than before and soon we found out why, the back fire had blown the back box apart, moggey grabbed his welder and a mallet and we soon had it back in shape and together, next up i have to swap the exhaust manifold over with my spare as the current one has a small crack, Here are some pics Love this old bus Cheers for following Mike

Update time again, since may not a lot has happend except use, coolant system flush and show & Shine baby, we will start with a bit of maintenance. I had not got round to flushing the old fella system since coming out of a 4 1/2 year hibernation and with the weather warming up here was getting hotter than usale, plus the heater was luke warm at best and i was taking him to the retro show, so once again my Bud Carl poped round and between us we drained the system, put in a new stat, flushed the rad and pulled of the matrix, Carl then demonstrated how fairy washing tabs & boiling water applied to a blocked matrix work and i must very well, plus i also have a lovely smelling heater lol With that task complete a test drive out to the pub was completed we returned ready for the retro show, longest trip for over 4 years, now i never used to worry about jumping in the old fella and covering god knows how many miles but this time i was wee bit nervous, but this was unfounded as the old boy performed faultlessly, we convoyed down with a couple of mates, one in his Mk4 & one in his Mk3, was pretty epic and a cool moment. All in all a sweet road trip, got told off for going two fast lol and i almost killed Carl with monoxide poisoning from the leaking exhaust lol but if there was one photo from this trip that fills me with joy it's this ome it just screams..... I'M BACK BABY lol Will update a bit more soon Cheers for following all Mike

Wow been a little bit since i updated this but that's mainly because other than use not a lot has happened lol My friend Trigger, member on here as Docktrigger and all round legend was fed up with seeing the wagon so flat in colour offered to buff it up for me, an offer that could not be refused so me & another bud carl cruised round pulled up a chair and watched trig do his thing. Unfortunately i never got a finished shot as it was too dark by finish time but trust when i say it looked 50 times better than it did before, was the last it was washed as well lol. With impending Baby due i managed to track down they mythic rear seat belts and bars i had been looking for all year from a top chap in holland, he is on here and is currently collecting to build a mental MK5 wagon, thankfully these where not in the plans so a deal was struck. Well chuffed with how easy they were to fit, ford really did think of everything as all the mounting holes where present and threaded, the rear trim cards even had cut here sections so no guessing where to cut, win, did nearly cry cutting the headlining to fit the top bolts thou, any way some pics. All this was back in the being of August, which was perfect timing as a couple weeks later this happend I became a Dad to this little spark plug Grace, she came home in style in the back of the MK3 instead of the wagon but at she came home in retro surroundings safe and sound, ive already got here in training too lol
