Have seen this for sale at a local garage for about a week now..... This Picture was taken yesterday lunchtime. I had a good look round it and appears well minty inside and out - though it has been re-sprayed a some point recently. Could look really nice with some euro wheels on it methinks. Its located at a garage called Summerfields in Wellingborough, Northants. Tel 01933 276173. If only I had the space for it myself - My mate's got a low mileage XE lump sitting in his garage

Interesting! I've been trying to convince my girlfriend that a solid Chevette would be a better daily drive than her current C*rsa, but she wants something newer, not older ;D

Dammit... does she know nowt..... I think some subliminal messages must be sent! ha ha! chevettes rock HARD! I'd love another shove-it.... my green one was legendary RWD and crappy tyres was a recipe for fun! ;D I'd need a hatchback one though if I was to have another..... (ideally an HSR ;D)

Chevette's do, indeed ROCK HARD! I remember my mate had one in '96, it was met. green and had belonged to his Grandad so had done diddly miles. The stereo speakers in the back were the kind you'd find in your living room. It was a bit underpowered but rear-wheel drive slides were easily achieved on the country roads round our way. I also recall being a passenger when we hit a ton four-up on the A505 between Luton and Hitchin: If I hadn't been off my face on cheap belgian lager it might have been scary! ;D I nearly bought one painted in Starsky and Hutch colours with white wellers ( ) once...but I already had about four cars in various states of disrepair so had to pass... Happy days.....

Mine was metallic green... and I too saw 3 figures with some passengers... (must have been a chevette ritual)
It was great fun!
I had an orange one too....

I had to change a starter motor on a Chevette some years ago. It was nearly enough to put me off owning one for life! Never seen such silly design in all my life. Still rip out that engine and chuck something sensible in and it would be ace ;D I do like the shape of them, especially that two door saloon.

Yeah Chevettes are great! Although £875? Bit much innit? I'd say 500 max for a total factory-fresh minter. You could get one off an old duffer in some village for a couple of hundred I reckon. That yellow one looks so cool on those rims!!!

nickB, A505 Hitchin Luton, top road for some retro frollics Sometimes I drive over that way just for a quick thrash, even though I live 70 miles away from Letchworth now. Course I pop in and see the family sometimes too. BTW, if you live that way, Jackmans Est, letchworth is a hive of old cortina's, granada's and Rover SD1's, honestly, check it out.

I get scared going to Jackman's. My mate used to live in the "Lanark" block, and it was traveller as hell.....

Aye, there is that element, I grew up in Monklands, (even worse than Jackmans Est), but my Nan and Grandpa live in Swanstand, so I spent a lot of time there, so I'm pretty well known.
Very traveller, but I'm ok round there.
That said, I did used to drink in the Squirrel, but only for a very short time.

That 2 door saloon Chevette's lovely, unusual too. That'd make a great little car for anyone, better than a tinny little Corsa anyway!

That yellow one looks so cool on those rims!!! Not sure if £875 is steep, I thought it seemed a reasonable price considering the car's immaculate condition. It would certainly cost more than the difference in price to bring the met green one in NickB's post, up to the condition of the red saloon or the blue estate - I suppose it demends on what your after I love that china blue estate on the bay..... cool as custard! It would be practical too

Last time I was in there I was offered a driving licence and passport for £50 Glad I escaped, but miss the action, living in the sticks means NOTHING happens here. nice roads though

That green one is the same colour that my old one was..... (both of them are sadly no longer with us.... sold them to the same woman (at different times) and she rolled them both... silly tart!)

I'm like these... ace with these deep set rims ... theres a guy near me who has one in a lemon yellow with no bumpers & limo black windows... not quite sure myself - he flashes me tho, (headlights! calm down) which is friendly enough... can anyone comment on the handling ?... would they take a bigger lump with simple shocker mods and bigger brakes?... what are the differences between standard and say droop snoot suspension ?

It's really that bad! Most of them just flog dodgy MOTs though,
