I'm after a couple "Okamoto safety drive" stickers that were popular on 1970's Japanese race cars. I've seen a few reproductions, but none with all the details on like the one pictured. Is anyone on here clever enough to draw one out and make it into a sticker (not decal) for my piece of nostalgic Japanese tin please? As for size, looking at about an a4 paper size. Merci.

by 'details' i take it you mean the crazing due to the fact that the vinyl is really, really old?

How do you mean sticker rather than decal? Do you want it reversed so you can put it on the inside of the window? I can do it but it would be cut vinyl as its not worth screening them unless you want a couple of 100 doing.

That's not an original Okamoto 'Safety Drive' sticker. It's actually an in-joke 'pastiche' made up and used by some of the members of a track day and sports driving club associated with C10 and C110 Skyline specialists 'Rubber Soul' in the Kansai region of Japan in the late Seventies and early 1980s. In fact I think you can still buy repros from Rubber Soul. You get the joke? Okamoto Riken Gomu ( that's Okamoto Riken Rubber ) was - amongst other things - a condom manufacturer. Their 'Safety Drive' with the 'OK' fingered hand advertising campaign was all about trying to get young men to buy and to use condoms by associating them with 'cool' and slightly glamorous sports. They sponsored races and race meetings, and a lot of their advertising at the time featured motorsports images. It was a great success. So do you want the original, or do you actually want the later in-joke version?

s20 thanks for the info. Not wanting the 'joke' version no. That was the only decent picture I've seen of it. The others were replications like JNC and such. I've not actually seen the one with Okamoto Riken Gomu at the bottom but know it is a rubber company. Coming from a rotary background and pretty much every R100, RX2 and RX3 race car having this sticker on, I've always wanted one. dodgerover I'd like it as a sticker (not peel off decal type) but if that's too much to print, a black vinyl background with the white/red decals cut out might look good. I'll PM you. Thanks.
