Been thinking today about the things I need to fix on the cars in time for the Gathering, and wondered if everyone else has a long list of things to do before the car is even road worthy.
For me I have a few choices to take, but all of them are in a state of disrepair.
First off I have the Fiat Panda Selecta that I have taken to a few Gatherings, but it's leaking fluids, the exhaust need replacing, and there is a rattling from the suspension.
Next I have the Lada 1200 that doesn't have an mot, won't idle, the body needs sorting, and the cooling system has been capped off by the previous owner.
Then there is the Reliant Robin, but that still needs the engine and gearbox fitted, the brakes sorted, and the interior put back in.
Lastly is the T25 camper van. It needs welding, an mot, and a good service.
Of all these vehicles i suspect the Lada or the T25 are the closest to being ready.

Oooh, I can play this game.... 1. Alfa 145 Cloverleaf - Not started, no chance. 2. Alfa 155 - Engine swap, re-trim, paint repairs, suspension upgrade, hmmm...... 3. Mk1 Escort Estate - New roof, front end re-panel, engine fit, full paint, trim etc... Nope... 4. Mk3 Escort - Taking a new direction, now going RWD, planning for RRG15... 5. Fiesta XR2i 2.0 Zetec - Some body repairs, ARB polybushes, cam belt, minor oil leak, clutch, RS Turbo box to fit, modify air inlet to get cleaner air, fit 4 branch manifold and Focus RS rad....hmmm.... Plenty to do, but it looks like it'll be the Fiesta this year...

Car wise I'm actually ok this year, famous last words, but all there is is a bit of body work, an interior and an running fault.

I could jump in Angela today as she is, but I'm thinking we'll need a few choice tweaks to make the long distance tour more comfortable/practical.
Currently I'm connecting my phone to an FM transmitter to broadcast over to the radio, with its 4x50W churning out to a pair of pretty feeble speakers on the rear. While this is pretty close to the 90's vibe, it drops out constantly, and the quality is curse word.
I've also got to get a pair of tyres for the front. And fit the sheepskin seat cover. Mmm, cosy!

Wheels, bushes, propshaft and probably gearbox on the 245. (And that's the daily) The sunny is going nowhere this summer. 265 needs a full re-commission and MOT. Unhappy.

Not so much "What needs fixing" but more logistics. Somehow I need to get the Capri and MX powered MGB there....I fear it's one or the other, but my issue is the Capri has more load space and as we take Generator/Projector/Floodlights etc I think that will be the only choice.

My celica is all ready, but I would love to sort the rotten drivers door. But at the moment I can just about afford to attend the gathering, so getting a door painted is low on my list of things to do.

Brakes Interior Gauges Wheels Suspension Headlining Rear window tyre scrubbing Rear bulkhead Rub down body and polish Battery Tow eye Insurance Likely things to actually get done: Brakes Some gauges Suspension Battery Insurance Mr Gimp - I think it might be prudent to add the tyre scrub to the list of things to do; otherwise you may not actually get to Shelsley Walsh with the tyre intact.... (Given the smell of tyre rubber after the short run, I think you may be arriving by trailer if you don't ) For me to do? Fit new seatbelts, repaint and rewire the flip front end, work out why the fuel gauge & Rev counter don't now work, and refit the new starter solenoid since we broke the existing one t'other week. Shouldn't take more than, ooh, a weekend at most....

The MG needs the front suspension/steering rack looking at to make it stop driving like its drunk also the polished lips on the wheels need redoing along with a myriad of other little jobs Alternatively, the Jag needs its new wheels painting and fitting, and if its gonna be hot, either the A/C fixing or the non working electric window fixing

I am winging it this year so it won't be a case of what needs fixing, it will be a case of what falls off and will it make it! AA membership fully paid up.

Sadly, the Sport Range Rover has died, one of the Monzas is waaaaaaaay off completion, the green car MOTs Monday, we will see how that goes, and the other Monza hasn't arrived yet....
