I never really noticed how many people drive around with one headlamp lit, or one headlamp and a sidelight, bulbs are not that expensive, why drive around like that? I say I never noticed it before I probably have but not paid attention until I started my new job, driving 2 and from is via twisty dark country lanes. Also I hate the drivers with headlamps that are positioned totally wrong, one aiming where its supposed too and the other one pointing up into your face, I also see a lot of cars with the tail lamp bulbs in wrong, how do you get them in wrong ? Oh and one guy decided because his highbeam was out on one side it was ok to drive with main beam on .
rant over lol

I think alot of the blame can be targeted towards car manufacturers. As a lot of modern cars you need hands the size of a five year old and the dexterity of a bomb disposal team to change some headlamp bulbs. Never mind having to remove engine parts batteries etc to get to the back of headlights as some engine bays are that cramped.

Agreed...gone are the days where a bulb change is a 5 minute job, as said, on modern cars it's now almost a 2 hour and half the car apart job just to find the bulb

Yeh, a mate of mine has a fairly new Passat, the dealers quoted him 2 hrs labour to replace a headlight bulb. By the time you add it all up, with vat etc £150, bargin!

Try drive over here I almost had a head on crash with a car that had only one park light working in the early hours of the morning still dark. The best thing is when its foggy hardly any one as fog lights on when its sunny everyone as there fog lights on that makes logic. I do know what you mean about the bad lights I was behind a car with no break lights last week and I watch it get rear ended by a artic lorry when it hit the breaks to let someone out

If you buy a new complex car then you do the work that's associated with it. Can't be bothered to do it yourself then pay someone to do it, can't afford to pay someone - you shouldn't have bought that car. It's that simple. I imagine if the traffic cops sat on the dual carriage way around here they'd make a killing giving people tickets. Get it done and stop being a danger to others and yourself because you can't see.

So if you're out at the shops, work, etc in the dark and a headlight bulb blows what are you meant to do, immediately stop what you're doing and fit it in the cold and rain? Also, the brightness of so many modern headlights you can barely tell the difference if one isn't working.
Yes it's annoying seeing one light coming at you in the dark wondering if it's a bike or van, but that's life. As for non-functioning brake lights, no-one should be following so close as to be unaware of the vehicle infront slowing down.
Drive as well and safely as you can, keep on top of checking your own lights etc and drive accordingly to the conditions.

lol how the hell can u tell someone is slowing down without stop lamps in the dark. Usually the gap between you and the car infront getting smaller is a big giveaway Sorry but I'm one of those people who has spent 2-3 hours every day for over 10 years commuting rush hour traffic and see this every day, it's normal, it won't change. Ever. Expect the unexpected and drive defensively
