new year new update.
Cost starting to spiral, its been moved to the new location and work is meant to restart soon, but its a case of get it on the road legal and back to me as is.
Cant justify the costs of paying for a respray on this car, so Ill either refresh my own abilities on the car which I learnt while doing my green one or quite fancy saying sod it, rub it flat and see what a wrap would look like on it.
Either way in a few months it should be back with me, annoying the wife and street, looking like poo, I mean seriously I could just pick up a bulk buy of black spray cans, rattle can the curse word out of it and it wouldnt look any worse than it already does lol.

Plenty of people have managed a pretty smart job with a gloss roller, probably even cheaper than rattle cans.

Tried that years ago on a Mazda mx5, started with the pop up light lids, gave up after just doing those little bits took days and days, many coats much cutting etc. Too slow havent got the time for that.
Worked ok though if I had the patience, rustoleum is the paint, It can be sprayed on in two coats so that might still be on the cards.

actual updates! front indicators and side lights changed for rounder units. since the headlights and rear lights are round it made sence to change these as the originals where rough as well

from his point of view he's done with the front bodywork. side repeaters gone tops of wings blended into the scuttle and number plate recess remade. next it's final fit of the front seats and check all the tunnel is done and finished after modding to allow the seats to fit in!

looks like I'm out of cash again one final push should see the rear bumper on solid and mot on it so I can drive it home and get prep for paint then paint. all lights are going to point up. also seats in final fit and floor painted to make it feel cleaner less itchy and stop that pesky fibreglass rust coming through......

Well that's the bodywork done to the point I told him too, front and rear bumpers, rear arches, rear lights front side and indicators seat/floor mods done He's now trying to say have it back, but I want to have it mot'd if possible so more work needed but think he wants to move it on as there's other cars for him to crack on with now. we shall see

Rustoleum does work when sprayed (see my Midas project) but I haven't flatted mine down yet. It's produced a nice coat and was surprisingly easy to use. I thinned mine by about 60/40 with White Spirit after a bit of investigation and test spraying.
What colour are you thinking of?

the rear end still needs a spoiler, I've struggled with this for ages. like duck tail. don't want to spend out too much as it'll probably need cutting and messing up.
what to get to get to get! 🤔😯
any recommendations guys?

Great progress, its really coming together...love the interior and light treatments. there is a green car on page 4 that has a spoiler that sort of folds down on the ends at a pleasant angle....I can see one of those on there....or a double from an XR4Ti jP

I think the struggle with mine is the sloping angle of the boot could play a factor so don't think it would fit very well, almost look like its about to fall off

Can't you make the duck tail from cardboard and do a skin or grp, then skim of filler and flat? You'll have to do this near enough if you're modding a different one. The cardboard will let you tweak style until you're happy. Lancia 037s always had the best duck tail to me. goo.gl/images/WL2MB2

it seems postimages website has had some issues and lost it's name .org now needs to be .cc never easy keeping images on forums is it! apparently we are getting dangerously close to mot time. I ordered a new exhaust system including a 421 so hopefully it all fits, upon removing the manifold this was found which was new to me. imp engines don't have core plugs lol, he explained that normally it would be wise to swap out all if doing one or two but since some are inside the bellhousing and the others he can see on inspection are well sealed he will just swap out this one. very interested to see if the exhaust system fits. also the power steering is failing and I think it's going to be a nightmare finding parts for a powered cortina rack as they're rare (by all accounts on internet) so in the interest of making time and getting it on the road a manual rack maybe fitted (which was standard fitment on all g26.... bar one lol, again apparently) chris

some photos from this weekend. apparently exhaust system needs lots of work to fit, bloody great, the steering rack is seemingmy impossible to work out or fix too. can anyone help me with steering racks! I think the one fitted is a rare but shagged powered cortina one. std fit on these cars was a manual rack so I'm quite happy to go back to manual. a manual rack should bolt on? will it, won't it?! will the column attach or would that be different too? one thing I've struggled the most with this car is identifying ford parts and getting any ford info from people about what might or might not fit the pinto engine! I thought Ford's where popular and well followed?! as soon as the racks off it he wants to be able to bolt something back on so I need to get this sorted asap, after that it's basically sat ready to mot!
