So i lent my 106 1.1 mk1 to my little sister to use whilst she is living over here for the season. It snowed, lots and lots and lots. She said she couldnt get the car started and when i turned up for a look it had literally 3.5ft of snow on it. It has a huge battery from a 2.0 megane so it turned over fine but no sound of starting or evern the hint of splutter. I told her to clean it off and it warm up in the sun and try again.
Fast forward to now, a month later when the snow has now melted of the car. It still turns over but again, no sound of anything other than my starter motor churning over. I took the plugs out to clean them and one was a bit wet. Also after trying to pour a small amount of petrol in the head it still failing i took the cam over off and there was some salad creamy looking stuff on the metal shield that you pour oil onto.
Head gasket was changed last year Spark plugs look pretty new Has Petrol
Cheers in advance for any info

I thought this thread was about a car being snowed in for 24 years! Lol
Is she mechanically minded? Did the car use water? Perhaps she has let it overheat and the head gasket has gone again? I had a car with a failed gasket recently and the compression was too low to start it.

Might have had a warped head and it just put back on and not skimmed ?
If it didnt have anto freeze it could have split something .
Fresh petrol ?

Jealous that you're in Morzine, I lived in Chamonix for a few years, spent a lot of summers in Morzine too. Can't help with the car, sorry.

Cheers for the replies.
Yea we refilled with anti freeze when we changed the gasket. I drove it to work for about 10months or more (200km round trip) and it was fine other than needing lots of choke to get started. She drove it about 2km to work for a week and then it snowed and it died which makes me sad.
Fresh petrol yes.
Also morzine rocks, you should all come all the time, its like little england here

Will it fire if you spray some easy start into the air intake? Is it getting a spark?

Did the plugs spark when they were out ? i'd start by looking at the fuel shut off switch, square red thing in the engine bay ? Is there coolant in the expansion tank or was there when you tried to start it ?
