After todays´antics the estate is definately looking a bit worse for wear There´s one panel i´ll be able to fix and reuse... but the rest of the rear valence and strengthening plates will need replacing... I ordered a 6x3´sheet of 1mm steel panel this morning, looks like i´d better get some grinding discs on order too

I like how you've done the measuring of the C pillar after you've started cutting both cars up Look forward to watching you work your magic on this one. Maybe we'll have to stop in in the Summer to check on progress?

That looked quite tidy before you started cutting it up! Looking forward to this.

A two door estate? Excellent! I can see it in my head but I know it'll look even better in reality

Excellent, speedy progress as usual - looking forward to keeping up to speed with this.
Can totally see why you're converting the two door as well, not just the rust, but really should be easier as not messing around with door apertures.
Question is, what's going to be powering it? Or is that a secret for another day?

Maybe we'll have to stop in in the Summer to check on progress? Well you know what i´m like Seth, in my defence though i did compare one or two photos before i bought the cars and reckoned it´d be ok and at the end of the day it wouldn´t have been a major problem to sort out. You´re more than welcome to pop round for a brew if you´re local. I´ll get some more welding gas in just incase the Hillmann needs sorting again Fantastic, a new Oldbus lets change something into something else thread. I've missed these. Bookmarked! Nice one George, thanks mate. I'm in!....following. man you are brave! JP ...or just plain daft when it comes to rusty old bodywork That looked quite tidy before you started cutting it up! Looking forward to this. The 2 doors ok Nigel and well worth saving but the estate is BLR as we used to say in the REME (Beyond local repair) and only looks ok in bad light from about 10 foot away. A two door estate? Excellent! I can see it in my head but I know it'll look even better in reality I´d do you a photoshop Darren but with my computer skills (or lack of) i´ll be quicker doing it for real. You should get a rough idea what it´s going to look at once i swap the roofs over this weekend. Excellent, speedy progress as usual - looking forward to keeping up to speed with this. Can totally see why you're converting the two door as well, not just the rust, but really should be easier as not messing around with door apertures. Question is, what's going to be powering it? Or is that a secret for another day? Cheers mate, for a start i´ll be refitting the 1600 to get it through it´s TÜV but after that i fancy a converting it to a V6. Not the fastest of engines but they sound fantastic. Oldbus thread = Bookmarked. Always up for a rusty old Ford thread eh Time for a bit of an update. The boot floor in the estates area little bit different to the ones in the saloon. Ford used the saloon same floor panel with spare wheel well and then added a second floor on top to make it all nice and flat. So i´ve been chopping out all the estate bits so that you can´t tell the difference once i´m finished off bodging the 2 door. Once i´d cut out the rear left hand panel i found that the D post was only being held together with foam... The pics just don´t do it justice, glad i´m not trying to restore this one. Well i´ve finished chopping out all the estate goodies for the meantime... and as you might have noticed the roof is missing That´s because it´s filling up the back of the garage waiting fo me to get my finger out getting it ready for refitting to the 2 door. Whilst looking at that last photo, anyone know where i can get a new headling made? Mines definately seen better days Cheers, Dave

I am playing with the idea to convert a Sierra Station wagon to a two door using the two door sedan's wider doors and B pillar - subject to availability of the latter. Will thus watch this with keen interest.

not sure if anyone makes the headlining but I believe the material was the same as used on Escorts of the period and is widely available, any trimmer should be able to make a new one with your old one as a pattern.
