Well, it happened again, I bought another old car. Two projects at once clearly wasn't enough for me, so I bought a third! Reasons I bought it: 1. It has a 5.3 V12. 2. It's brown and full of leather and wood. 3. It has a 5.3 V12. 4. It's very solid for a 44 year old car, although it hasn't been on the road since 1987 so it didn't have much chance to absorb much winter road salt. It's got a few dents and scratches but I love the patina on it. 5. and finally, it has a 5.3 V12. It doesn't run yet as apparently the starter is dodgy, but my god I can not wait to fire this up. Not too much more to say at the minute, I saw the advert on Thursday, viewed it on Friday, and it arrived by trailer on Monday, so I had about enough time to take some pictures and throw a cover on it last night and that's it. I'll let the pictures do the talking for now. Thats a lovely thing,i would run it as is with some localised paint and keep that patina. Looks like it's just legged it out of a Sweeney episode circa 1976

One of my friends had one of these many years ago as well as a V12 e-type manual. “It I’ll pass anything bar a petrol station…” was his comedy quip.

Great pair of comfy cruisers you have. Thanks guys, and don't worry, it's definitely not going to be painted, I'll do my best to preserve it as it is! Sweet......did this come from merseyside? It did indeed come from Merseyside. Can't wait to see a vid of it firing up! Me neither! That looks great, what engine is it?! I don't know actually, I should probably find out... One of my friends had one of these many years ago as well as a V12 e-type manual. “It I’ll pass anything bar a petrol station…” was his comedy quip. Yeah I don't realistically expect this thing to top 10-12mpg or so, it'd cost me around £20 to drive to work and back for the day so I'll have to be picky on when I drive it! Great quip though, I'll remember that!

1. Make engine work 2. Drive. 3. That's it, you've won.
What a wonderful, wonderful car.

In my dark & distant past, a flash mate of mine bought a manual V12 E Type. He drove like a knob mind, but i do remember him saying that he was getting 7-8 to the gallon !!!! -& upto about 12-13 if he was careful - which was very rare........

Surely no-one who buys something with a V12 expects double-digit fuel economy - in fact you can't use the word "economy" when a Jag V12 is involved. Soul, yes. Power, yes. Lots of slobbering and drooling noises, most certainly (do your best Homer Simpson drooling impression). For economy, you have the CX Spot of rust killer, lacquer the whole thing satin, take out shares in BP and NGK, throw on a set of boots and enjoy! Bookmarked.

Ha, we'll see in a few months if I'm fed up enough of working on it to give it away to you

Yeah it doesn't look like there's a lot of wiggle room! I'm hoping that being used to the Mini's engine bay will help me here, that can be tight at times too.

Oh yes, and please don't misinterpret my comments on the economy as a criticism, obviously I didn't buy this to worry about fuel costs - that said, I don't get paid enough to afford to drive it daily! I just love the silliness of knowing it should do around 200 miles on 90 litres/20 gallons of juice lovely thing, please keep the patina! (or 'pateena' as Jay Leno says)
Funny, I've always pronounced it 'pateena' myself... in any case, it'll be staying!

I do love Roadkill, I've watched all their episodes at least three times... maybe that's why I'm so fond of the brown-ness of the car?! If the V12 turns out to be ruined then I'll obviously have to get a blown V8 in there instead

The only way is Draguar! I'm god it's not just me that thought that as I scrolled through the pics. An awesome car to have, and you can never have enough projects (well, before you get married anyway, then apparently you can )
