This'll be my first event of the year, so currently have everything crossed that I'll make it onto the list. I still have no idea how I managed not to hit send or whatever? If anyone can't make it though please get in touch. Any dropouts should go thro the organisation team - I will then contact people on the resrve list - sorry but just like the previous events we have to supply details to the event hosts. Random replacements happening in the background will not wotk. Sorry, I should have been clearer, I meant get in touch and notify organisers so spaces can be reallocated. I've been to enough to know simply taking someone else's spot wouldn't work. Can you confirm you have all relevant info via PM please?

Pretty sure I have everything

Correct on all counts Goodwood is very unforgiving in terms of leaving the black stuff - it’s very important that people respect the track. Totally agree . If a driver is quick but has no experience of negotiating Goodwood's corners safely , regardless of speed ---- best to ease off. We'll all pay the price if anyone comes off , even more so if oil or water is dropped or any barrier is damaged. Goodwood would have to repair before any further runs or they'd be liable should another accident occur and it wasn't cleared(if oil/water)or repaired if a barrier. It can take over an hour and has in the past , should a car contact a barrier , then a digger plus men to repair . That would be 15 car runs at least. Absolutely agree except O think your 15 car runs is way too low At the TWMC Sprint where we were working out how best to work with Goodwood in terms of track activity a Honda S2000 went off mid afternoon I suggest anyone thinking that this is a normal circuit with plenty of run off and lots of gravel traps watch this That was it for the day - no-one went on track for the rest of the day

His name is Tim Simpson and it was pretty serious , ambulance check etc but finally was ok. Crazy to have the bags connected on a race car , you've then got zero vision , hence the mess . You'll note from my previous post , I did say '' at least 15 car runs '' though

Much as I enjoy Goodwood, I found it can be one of those circuits where the speed you're carrying can be deceptive, so if unfortunately things do go wrong, they can go wrong in a big way. It's also easy to get carried away 'in the moment' and none of us want to see anyone damage their car or themselves.

Has anyone got any good track guides for Goodwood, either video or webpage? I assume the boards on the S2000 vid are turn in points and apex?

[Grumpy old man mode ON] In the wet/damp it can be a monster of a track and if there are any drivers who think they're out for a hoonathon it's going to end very badly. I've seen multiple rolled Caterhams with only one wheel left on them being recovered off Goodwood due to lack of sense/talent. Stirling Moss ended his career with a crash at Goodwood and I'm pretty sure that we will have no one on track with 10% of his talent. My major worry is that RR have scored what I think is the most evocative venue in the UK for this event and I'd love it to be an annual meet for us all but if we have a surfeit of planks causing problems it may be difficult to book again. Sobering video's indeed, hopefully everyone participating will respect the venue & the skill (or otherwise) of those around us as I'm sure there will be a wide driver spectrum from novice to race driver & we have a duty to Ian & the wider RR team to make this all inclusive & run like clockwork.
Even though I've been lucky enough to have lots of non-competitive track time these video's made me 'scared' however for those who haven't done this before my experience is this isn't generally how non-competitive events are & I'm confident the weekend will be a much more considered affair.
I'm definitely there for the 'Event' & for the chance to 'Drive Goodwood, I have absolutely no intention of spoiling mine or anyone else's day by driving irresponsibly or unreasonably as I've had the car for the best part of 30 years & hopefully I will have it for a few more.
When I applied for Track time I had no idea of the number of laps that came with it, the organising team have clearly done a cracking job so thank you for that, I just wanted an excuse to bring the car back out again, for me Trackdays are for testing the car & driver skill, RR Weekender is for meeting likeminded people, talking cars & enjoying the atmosphere, hopefully in the sunshine.
With circa 5 weeks to go I absolutely can't wait, I just need to find time to get to the Chevette & leave the E-Type until later!
Mark, cracking driving btw, if you get a run I absolutely want you to be in front of me so I can see (although briefly) how it should be done.
Here's praying for good weather.
Cheers,
Dave

All gone quiet with people posting about this event, / I'm about to embark on a series of updates and "what's on" type posts ... Still got another 20-ish people we're waiting for funds from for the track stuff and then we can announce who is in what group (no point until everyone is paid up in case we have to swap in reserves due to non-payment).

When do you get to the point that people who have been invited to join but not paid up are removed from the list.? The reliable reserves need to be informed. Do you know if there's there soon to be any more video's released?

Bognor Regis Motor Club are holding a sprint event with 80 to 100 cars of all shapes and sizes at Goodwood on Saturday 28th April and we'd welcome anyone to come along to spectate (no entry fee), see what goes on at a BRMC sprint and look at / laugh at the lines being taken. It's as useful to see the bad lines and people getting it 'out of shape' as it is to see the good lines and the faster drivers. As a regular marshal at the track I agree with all of the above comments, especially "respect the track" (Lord March is very proud of his grass and his daffodils - please stay off them!). I suspect that keeping a bit of distance from the car in front on your first lap will give a clearer run on the second lap... ie get to know the corners at a steady speed and don't just try to catch the guy/lass ahead and put them under pressure to go faster. Hopefully any speed differentials will become evident early on and you can discuss a suitable order with organisers and each other in your group to get the best out of the second and subsequent runs. Lost time needs to be avoided... as stated above a scrape of the tyre-wall will cost a bit of time, but if you become a passenger in your own car (re. the S2000 video - you've no control once the tyres are on the grass at that speed, whether you can see past the airbags or not) and spread it over a wide area then delays WILL be substantial as many processes have to take place before any more track activity. The other big time-eater is cleaning up oil... I'm reminded of a sprint a couple of years ago when an engine blew, the car spun on it's own oil and pirouetted on the grass - and then the driver re-started it and drove it another 600 yards along the track leaving a slippery trail behind him all the way. Don't be that moron!
