Thank you to the RR team for once again knocking it out of the park! Honestly it didn't seem like a first go at the event, everything ran slick and well. Can't wait for the gathering! It’s nice that all the mistakes made on track and off haven’t all been registrted by our paying participants Loads to do to improve the organisation and comunication around the event - it was first year at new venue and we had to do a lot of last min rushing around to fix issues - this took time out of our prep activities

What a fantastic show! Huge thank you to all the RRW staff, the campsite crew and the Goodwood staff. We had a brilliant time. The track action was great - the marshals and other staff were really friendly despite working their socks off trying to organise everyone. The static show was excellent too, I somehow missed some of the cars (such as the Marsh Plant Aston!!) but saw plenty that got me all inspired and wanting to buy another project that I have neither time or money to finish. Campsite was fine, I was a bit worried that it would be a bit cosy as it looked small but everyone seemed to get a decent pitch, even us with three vans and a load of cars and tents. So yeah... well done to all concerned! Roll on RRG

It was my first RR event and what an event it was. Saturdays track action was great to watch just a pity I didn’t have a go! Sunday’s show had a bit of every thing and while it didn’t all appeal to me it was so good to see all the different styles. Hats of the all that put it together. The only negative thing was the the clubs were a bit to spread out and the lady’s had a long walk to the loo! Please please do it again next year!

The chances are i'll be right behind you All this talk of late night noise. I cant say i heared any, i had trouble sleeping due to trying to kip in the car, but I cant say there was any undue noise where i was at least. The smell of weed though was in the camp site and in the venue itself. Its not on. Not everyone wants to be around it.

This has gone well. Yay! I'm glad I manage to make it just over 24 hours in the thanks thread before it kicked off into complaints. Think that is a record. Makes the months of effort and expense putting the show on really worth it and really motivating for doing it again. Can't wait to do it all again, maybe I can make it to 36 hours next time. I could start the post later? or you could lock it just before the witching hour

To be honest, I've never yet seen an RR event thread that didn't end up with complaints about "noise idiots shocker". It didn't bother me because I wasn't there but my 10pence-worth would be that it shouldn't take a genius to realise if you're the only people partying in the small hours it's probably because everyone else is trying to sleep and maybe common courtesy might tell you to wind yourselves in a bit And furthermore it's all very well to say "who's a billy big balls behind the keyboard?" but to be fair, I've been around a bit but I'd think twice about fronting up a drunk group of total strangers in the middle of the night all on my lonesome and asking them to be quiet. Because if they're ignorant to make loads of noise all night long they're ignorant enough to tell you to **** off. Or maybe just stab you. As to the "it's your first RR event so you should accept having a curse word time because other people have done more and therefore have the right to behave as obnoxiously as they want".... really? One of the most mindless arguments I've ever seen It shouldn't even be a thing. People should just respect other people but I don't suppose they're likely to start now. Shame because I always enjoy the living four-X out of RR events. And then dread the aftermath of "who didn't pick up their litter" and "who made too much noise" and "who didn't do this that or the other"

SO glad I'm not the only one with a deep sense of resentment against those utter dicks. I went over twice to reason with them and then as I stared into their saucer-sized mad eyes and they honked and barked at me, I knew there was nothing good that could come out of asking them to stop, so I just had to turn around and go back again. They were utterly blasted and beyond any kind of reason or control. Sunday morning when I finally woke up and walked past their gazebo thing in the middle of their tents, they had destroyed everything they'd brought with them. Smashed everything up. I'm amazed they didn't burn their pitch down. They had kicked over their barbecue/fire thing, kicked over all their chairs and tables and scattered all their stuff everywhere. I'm willing to bet good money they didn't tidy any of that up before they left. I really don't know what they thought the event was. I think they got it confused with some kind of music festival flood-therapy session for under-developed cretins. I can only hope the got stopped by the police for drunk/drug induced driving as they left because they were still at it at 4am and yet they were up by 9:30am staggering around and starting their cars. Utter knobs. I think the thing to do next time is for a bunch of RR regulars to put their names into a hat to volunteer as a campsite peace-posse. We could swap mobile numbers and then anything like that happens again and the Goodwood ground staff have gone home, we can gather in sufficient numbers to deal with it and if necessary to remove them from the site. I don't know quite how that would work and how we would control it but I'm sure a bunch of us would stand a better chance than just one of us. Haha we're famous! If you actually came over you could of joined in on the tenacious D concert we had on Friday night. Your right about our camp site we trashed the place, and then cleaned every last piece of litter up and took it to the skip before we left coz we aren't massive curse word As for security, they were on round the clock and we had a woman come over both nights and told us to keep the music on, because eveeyone else had gone to sleep and she was bored lol. We had a chap come over Saturday about 1am asking us to turn it down because his group were heading off to bed for the night and actually ended up staying with us for 2 hours having a great time! Lighten up and join the party next time! Lots of love x You are not exactly endearing yourself to anybody, mate. But,in all fairness, seeing anybody can start off on the wrong foot and everybody deserves a second chance, why don't you show us what you can bring to the forum? Cool projects, past ,present or even future is a currency we can all deal in. Let's see some awesomeness......😊

Security wernt supposed to be sleeping so thats not exactly a valid point is it? There was an kerfew for a reason. Respect it, at least that will be a good start.

Thanks to all those involved in organising it, we had a great time once again. I've somehow never been to Goodwood Circuit, what a lovely venue and what a nice relaxed atmosphere all weekend, much the same as the gatherings I've been to. We didn't get wet either for a change!
What doughnut accidentally set the skip alight on Sunday morning?!

Oh yeah, id forgotten about the skip. And what was the quite random bit plume of smoke that came from the lane behind the toilets on saturday night. One minute it was there, then it was gone.

And then dread the aftermath of "who didn't pick up their litter" and "who made too much noise" and "who didn't do this that or the other" No one was "partying", this is a massive over exaggeration and this has been backed up by people who were actually there. Organisers have already said that the noise curfew wasn't set in stone (or words to that effect). In fact if you check hotwires post about what he thinks was acceptable, this is pretty much exactly what was going on. The lad complaining has blown this out of all proportion and now people who weren't even there are basing their opinion of this situation on his over the top statements. Now suddenly there's talk of being scared of being stabbed. It was a group of people sat around a phone speaker turned down low, chatting about cars and having some banter and beer. The funny thing is this group was made up of people from all over the camp site as people would come walking over and joining us as they were passing to go to the toilet ect. It wasn't a group of knife welding terrorists, it was a group of random car enthusiasts sat around chatting about where they were from and what they had driven there.

I for one vote for having rain the day before we pitch our tents Much of the ground was lovely and soft when I left.............. That Big Black Tank of Water still had over 6600 L in it - I had the pleasure of emptying it!!!

And then dread the aftermath of "who didn't pick up their litter" and "who made too much noise" and "who didn't do this that or the other" It always seems to happen, one year someone complained about myself and two friends starting up our cars first thing in the morning Saturday and limiter bashing for five minutes! Which was news to us as we had already left by the time the limiter bashing was quoted to have occurred! I think there's a select few drama queens among the rest of the happy campers that crave drama so bad that they take to abusing others on the interwebz. Still, I'm camping at Shelsley Walsh this year regardless

Not cool man, you should show a little more respect..
theres kids and babies on the campsite and most people just want a half decent nights sleep on what was a pretty chilly night.
We was at the opposite end of the site and could hear the music, and was thinking thank god I'm not next to that all night.
Its a classic car show, not a tenacious D gig.

We were camped near the loos, can't say we heard any loud noises past 11/12 after we went to bed
So more onus on setting up a quiet and a noisy side of the campsite for next year could worj - the tickets can be specified for either when booking and colour of bands to show where the security people will point you when you turn up. Given the size of the field, it may not be too hard to sort
So boring early ish nighters like ourselves can be in a quiet zone and the people wanting to have late night chatting sessions can be less audible to those who wish them to pipe down

I honestly dunno how people supposedly heard music from the other end of the site, It cannot have just been us if this is the case, that little bluetooth speaker defo was not loud enough to reach the other end of the camp.
You're all blowing curse word massively out of proportion
If it was as bad as youre all making out, we'd have been kicked off site lol

Although I wasn't the first person to mention the noise, I am the person who kicked this whole debate off, and to be really honest I regretted it very quickly.
I regretted it simply because this is not the thread to be having this discussion in. Through no-one's fault but my own, a well deserved tribute to the organisers descended into a bun fight about camping on page one. Having taken my cue from somebody else who mentioned campsite noise, I then kicked this whole thing off... so it didn't seem like I was in a good position to then be trying to demand it all stops again. It would be a bit like me saying my piece and then suggesting you can't have your say. So I did what felt best under the circumstances... I apologised for my outburst and withdrew my comments in the hope it would die down again.
These are the things I have taken on board:
- It's my first RR event and Slater is quite right in pointing out I haven't exactly earned the right to be complaining after just one event.
- It's really not a good idea to let rip in anger on a forum, and I did just that. I let rip in anger because I was still really annoyed that my expectations for the weekend were badly effected by my lack of sleep. I'm as good as 50 years old and I stopped enjoying staying up all night drinking about 20 years ago. A lack of sleep makes me seriously grouchy, and I do mean seriously grouchy. I stay grouchy until I've slept it off. When I posted on page one... I hadn't slept it off. I'm sorry.
- Somewhere between my description of a drug-fuelled rampage of carnage and your friend's description of two cub scouts huddled around a mobile phone talking quietly about cars lies an accurate description of what happened. We're never going to know unless somebody pops up and says "I video'd the whole damn thing" and that's not going to happen so it's pointless us batting it back and forth really.
- I had placed blind faith in the numerous references to a quiet campsite, a noise curfew, and the messages of being respectful of each other. Maybe I just read too much into it. Maybe as a first timer I didn't appreciate that the curfew is a 'fantasy' as somebody else described it (possibly Slater again but I can't be arsed to go back and check).
- For me personally, being really honest, the amount of noise felt too much. I couldn't get any sleep. I have agreed that the music wasn't carnival sound-system loud, but I believe it was too loud to be considerate of people camping nearby - my personal view. Equal to and possibly greater than the music was the vocals and mad hoots and ad-libs that kept ringing out, and the sound of things getting trashed that jarred me in the middle of the night.
I'm willing to go half way and say that maybe I had unrealistic expectations of a curfew and I should have known better than to come to a car event and expect to get a good night's sleep crammed into a small area with a wide variety of motor heads. Maybe you could meet me half way and say that maybe you had had a bit too much to drink to be able to judge what was appropriate in terms of the noise level and how long it went on.
I fully acknowledge you weren't running around the place with a sound system smashing everyone else's stuff up.
I apologise for letting rip the way I did, and maybe we can just let this slide now until an appropriate time to discuss it comes up in a more reasonable manner. I'm sure the RR peeps are taking this on board anyway and will make whatever adjustments might be necessary for next year's event.
If you're going in August bshaw maybe I can buy you all a beer and we'll have a chat and bury the hatchet.
I wont be camping again as the penny dropped soon after this discussion spun up that it is indeed a bit unrealistic of me to expect to get a good night's sleep in a field at a car event.
No hard feelings. Let's just chalk it up to a heated disagreement that I shouldn't have started, and let's just get back to chatting about cars.
