Hello. I seem to be back. But more importantly, pics :
Since the Scimega left, garage time has been aimless. I'd been spending unhealthy amounts of time online looking for my personal short-list of cars, to the point of needing to buy something, even just to break, for some garage escapism. Gotta be something interesting, though.
The local auction house has an online 'seized vehicles' auction. When you see a quirky Japanese car listed, of unknown mileage, with no keys, you've not seen it with your own eyes, but the auction ends in an hour, the obvious thing to do is bid on it, right?
I only won the auction.
I've always liked the styling of the FTO, the small V6 engine is a cool detail. but I didn't know these were mostly Automatic/TipTronic. From initial thoughts of "What have I bought?" "It was cheap, you can break it", once home and with closer inspection it's pretty solid underneath.
With a bit more online investigation it appears unlikely these have an immobiliser. Hmmmm...it'd be nice to get it running. I took the door handle and lock out, visited a local locksmith and had a key £6 later. Back home, key into ignition, twist it and the car starts instantly
I took it for a shake-down drive and the auto box does its thing no problem.
The wee car is telling me it has some life left, so this is going to be a budget fix-up.
17" Wolfrace alloys are a nice addition, and I do have the centre caps. They need refurbished, but I enjoy refurbing wheels Rear calipers need attention (usual problem) as this one clearly isn't grabbing.
A quick power-wash later, not looking bad. Check out the blingy fusebox cover.
Blingy grill in need of adjustment, cloudy lights in need of attention, further battle scars on bodywork.
Low-rent '90s JDM plastic interior, but hard-wearing
