I've come to a halt with my Defender, due to lack of time. I've changed half the suspension for ball and rods, and I have the paint ready for when I can spare some time. Need to order the bits I need to finish it off. Don't know when that will be though.
🤔😀

I got fed up with trying to get the cantilever rear to work properly. These trucks are just too light, I think to work with the resistance of the damped shocks oil seals. If I had the springing or lever at a point where the suspension would return the truck couldn't compress the springs - If the truck compressed the suspension, it wouldn't return to ride height. So I've made another pair of extra long/extra droop WPL shocks for the rear. I have nearly as much travel as the cantilever set up. I'll have a play with mounting position, spring lengths and alternative springs (pen/C14/24) and see how we go from there. I've also relocated the front suspension pick up points further back, and lower, to lengthen the radius arms - I've always thought that they looked too short. This does seem to allow the front to flex more smoothly and has the ride height now with the arms at their longest, which pulls the axle back towards the truck on full compression, helping the steering servo clear the body.

I've just set 3D printer purchasing back again. It's an RBR/C 1/12ish crawler frame chassis. I've ordered a WPL front axle case to go along with it and a set of steel pinion/ring gears. The rest I think I can build from parts in stock. Build commences in a fortnight I hope.

I started building up a C14/24 chassis ready for the 54 when it arrives. In an idle moment I propped the C24 body I have here against it. Having not really like the look of them before I might have to give one a go.

Had the TBS mini and program cable arrive so I've been playing with that..
No prizes for guessing where the sound files came from. The horn is trigger-able on channel 3 while channel 4 starts and stops the engine. Neat-o.

Think its too small for those wheels Mark. How soft are the new v4 tyres? I think it's supposed to look a bit of a characture. But it will jo doubt get tried out on several sets. The V4 tyres are very soft, slightly taller than the V1 but not quite as tall as the V3. They have very soft side walls and will have the same tendency to roll over themselves that the V3's have. The tread isn't as wide as the V1 either. I'm not a huge fan currently. The C54 is now on an MN99s chassis and will be getting the lighting from theat too. The MN body is going on the C24 chassis, it'll need the front axle pushing forward a little, and the MN interior trimming around the gearbox. I plan to cut the MN interior up quite a bit anyway, so that a 12th scale figure can fit inside. It'll also get C34/44 seats rather then the completely out of scale buckets they have as standard.
