When? Saturday 21st August Where? Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb What is it? We're bringing a new challenge to UK hillclimbs, a shoot out format that means every run matters and the last person standing takes the prize. Split in to four major classes, each with a sub class divided by vehicle age, Quick60 is a competition for everything from a standard road car through to fire breathing monsters. Once the competitive runs start each class will be sliced in half with the fastest cars progressing to the next runs. Leaving at the end of the day two cars in each class to try and claim the CROWN. Commitment, consistency and courage is what it is going to take to get the top spot and claim the prize money. Classes We've kept the class structure for the event as simple as possible. If you are already competing in any British hillclimb championship in a closed wheel car you'll be ready for one of the classes. Stock - Standard road going production cars (at least 5,000 produced) built after 2000 up to 2 litres corresponding to Section S.11 of the MUK Year Book Mild - pre 98 and post 98. Road legal production cars (at least 1,000 produced), may be modified within the criteria set out in Section S.12 of the MUK Year Book Wild - pre 98 and post 98. Production cars (at least 1,000 produced), a more heavily modified class, may be modified within the criteria set out in Section S.13 of the MUK Year Book Outlaw - pre 98 and post 98. Heavily modified cars corresponding to Section S.14 of the MUK Year Book Here is the MUK year book : www.motorsportuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/2021-03-08-motorsport-uk-yearbook-2021-p349-359-specific-regulations-sprints-hill-climbs-and-drag-racing-s.pdfIf this sounds like something you want to be a part of then you can do an expression of interest form here: quick60.co.uk/expressionofinterestform.htmlWe're close to the full formal regs being available.

To answer some questions we've already had. Are there going to be sub classes for engine size?Right now no, this is our first event and I always wanted to keep the classes fairly broad. We're aware this is a big melting pot and we may need to rethink once we've run the event. However we also didn't want to just run another hillclimb with the usual class breakdowns that a lot of championships run, people already run those events and they run them well. Let's see where it gets to first year and we'll have a look at if that will work year two as well. Will I only get one run if I'm not fast enough? No. Everyone gets at least four runs. There are three morning practice runs and then the first competitive run in the afternoon which all drivers will get to run in which determins the first knockouts. How much is entry? As we're still working through costings we can't say with 100% certainty, but we're attempting to keep everything at around £90, which is reasonable we feel given the comparison to other hillclimbs, the venue and the chance you may be out after your fourth run. What license do I need? You will need at least an RS-Interclub from Motorsport UK, this costs £69 and can be found here : www.motorsportuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/2021-competition-licence-application-form.pdfWe hope to be able to do a walkthrough from starting with nothing through the steps you need to take to end up on track getting timed runs. Please note Outlaw class cars will need RS National license which has more requirements than just an online application. What club do I need to be a member of?Right now this question is a little up in the air and we'll be updating asap (in fact it is the thing holding up the release of regs). We had planned to have a Motorsport arm of Club Retro Rides, however due to the timing on event confirmation and running our other events we'll not be able to gain our official recognition for the club before the event. We are working with our partners on a solution to this, we'll update as soon as we can. Can I run a modern car?Yes you can, in fact the Stock class is pretty much all moderns (post 2000, under 2litre), but we're expecting modern stuff through the other classes as well. Wait! I can't run a standard retro car?You CAN run a standard retro car, but it is classed in the Mild due to the way the regulations we are shadowing come together. Any other questions?

Banging, answers all of my questions, thank you very much Hotwire. Very much looking forward to the possibility of competing at Shelsley on my birthday! - already thank you for organising RR at Shelsley for my birthday weekend every year...Just a thought, could you bundle in club cost as a 'one off weekend member of Shelsley' with a marginally higher entry fee? You definitely need to get onto some sort of RR Race Club though, imagine the sprint and hillclimb possibilities and fun!! You had me there with the RS National Licence for Wild (S.14. - Sports Libre) cars, if this is a Hillclimb and competed to under those Regulations then unless there is some particular clause for your event then for those machines that are road legal and compete in road legal form (i.e. are currently taxed, tested and run road legal tyres) then an RS Inter Club UK licence is okay (this is also the same reason I don't need to be logbooked - often something some of the scrutineers don't know!), I know a road legal Sports Libre car is of the minority in that class but you may get some more road legal bike/rotary/non original block engined specials (for example) entering if they know; 7.1.5.1. Any Driver competing in a Racing or Sports Libre car of more than 1100cc, or equivalent forced induction, with the exception of a pre’1994 Formula Ford 1600 in compliance with the period Ford regulations, must hold a RS National (H.17.1) or Race National Licence, unless the car is currently licensed for use on the public highway and competes in the event in a roadlegal condition. For anyone looking for Hillclimb regs it is page 349 onwards of this publication - file:///C:/Users/ocesurvey/Downloads/2021-05-11-motorsport-uk-yearbook-2021.pdf - the famed MS UK Blue Book. 0800 RACECAR. Could you also confirm if we can compete under other MUK licences? I have a national B circuit license which actually requires a test rather than just an application so assuming i don't need to spend another £69? Also can we run two drivers in one car? Hoping to enter wild class

I 99.9% certain a race or rally licence supersedes a speed licence.

Also can we run two drivers in one car? Hoping to enter wild class I think that might be difficult but possible bearing in mind Shelsley’s layout - depends how many cars are in each class and how the morning runs are organised - then there is the shoot out issue to deal with - what happens if both drivers end up drawn against each other?

I did discuss this with Shelsley and it isn't that unusual in traditional hillclimbs, they just run the shared drives up immediately after the previous session comes down. So if you end up with a shared drive fighting out for top honours in a class then one driver goes up, the rest of the runs happen then the other driver goes up. Of course who is the driver that gets to warm up the tyres by going first? (Who might also break it, thus stopping the second driver......)

Awesome, this sounds great. Actually gives me a reason to renew my license this year. Thank you guys for continuing to push on expanding all the work you do under the RR banner 😀
Think I'm all good car wise as can't see the roll cage diagonal requirements I thought were coming in 2020.
Some questions for the mix;
- do modified and outlaw (libra) cars nesd to use a HANS devise?
- guess harnesses don't need to be in date as running hillclimb regs?

If you are in a Sports Libre car then HANS and in date harnesses are a requirement - the only thing I don't have to have dated in mine (a sub 2000cc Libre) is the fire suppression... but this I do anyway, I'd recommend HANS and their specific harnesses to anyone though, much rather have it help my neck out in the event of an incident! I don't find it affects my driving or enjoyment in any way.

Also I have an RS interclub -Stage Rally licence which I understand supersedes a speed licence. don't forget a timing strut.

Very good! With 4 cylinders that means you will be twice as quick as me on 2? Correct?

So seems I'm in modified/Wild S13 class rather than Libra (S14) - but being over 2L not sure what this means HANS and in date harness wise since the changed a few regs in 2020 year book. Anyone any ideas?
If I need a HANS and to get belts in date I'll probably pass as I'd rather do 4 track days than spend a load more of safety equipment for 5 mins of (admittedly competitive) hill runs.
And yes I know all the benefits of HANS, just don't see why their forcing it on cars that are much safer than high powered 'stock' cars that can run in lower classes, or indeed the A-E historic stuff. That and forcing low usage per year, relatively slow cars to need in date equipment just smacks of money generation for equipment suppliers rather than giving a significant benefit in safety to the average grass roots competitor. (*climbs off soap box)

I have a hans device and absolutely hate wearing it . Had to in the STYLUS sports libre class but not compulsary in saloon car class . My Stylus car seat pushes my head downwards with hans plus fullface helmet , really uncomfortable . My rollover bar would not get through scrutineering since 2016 in the Stylus

Can you tell me is it possible to be just be a spectator on Saturday & pay admission on the gate Think I may have read this is ok but can't find info now Thanks Paul Sorry I didn't reply to your PM yet, been playing catchup after two and a bit weeks without internet! Yes you can. Same deal as other RR events, ticket prices go up in the week before to the "on the day" price, they can be found here : www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing?eid=19263& We're assuming we can do cash for entry on the gate safely now, but we'll still encourage people to pre-purchase digital tickets we can scan as it made such a huge difference to the speed of entry at Weekender

We're in the last little bit of the process with regs and stuff now. So hope to formally open entry in the very near future. Some of the interest we've got is absolutely what we wanted, from first-time people to internationally known names

Just spectating at this event as the Jetta won't meet the criteria,if I'm reading the regs right. Non standard engine and the VR6 was never an option in the MK2 range 🙄..
