This has come such a long way in such a short space of time. So a massive pat on the back for that a lone. The result is nice.....very nice 👌. Those 80s style decals are very similar to what I have in mind for my truck. Still....that's the least of my worries at the moment.....I can't even decide what colour its going 🤔🤔 Anyway....top work! The design and execution of it all is fantastic. It's one awesome car transporter!

You should really have cleaned it back to bare metal where the cone part of the nut bears on the wheel before you fitted them. Not only does it stop it grabbing the paint like that, it prevents the wheels working loose as the paint between the nuts and the wheel gets broken down by the clamping pressure and the heating/cooling from the brakes. You need to check them for tightness ASAP, and ideally, take them off and get the paint off. 100% - Clamping surfaces of wheels - just metal to metal - front and back. Clean the conical seats and any contact surface on the rear of the wheel back to clean metal. a Smear of anti seize will hold off corrosion.

How big are the holes that need cleaning up? Maybe get a large masonry drill bit (i.e bigger than the hole) in a drill and slowly turn it so it cleans the surface up without biting into the metal.

do you have a suggestion of what tool piece i can use to do this without risking any more of the paint around where I am doing it?? Great idea with the anti seize. It would be a fairly large counterbore to do that and would need to match the seat angle - I would be inclined to see what a sharp blade in a Stanley knife would do cutting the paint as it looks very plastic. Or as suggested grind up a suitable drill bit to suit the angle and use it hand held to "deburr" the paint from the steel.

I’d use an old screwdriver, ground to match the shape of the wheelnut, to carefully carve the paint out.
I’d definitely do it by hand with some sort of scraper, not a machine tool or anything that would likely damage the seat.
Mind you, it’s easier to not put paint there in the first place. 🤣

That sounds like a great idea. But it looks like the layer of paint is very thick and it wants to peel, so the edge is still vulnerable. I think I'd try to cut the edges first with an Exacto knife. And then clean the rest with the Pinder methode.

I'd run a scalpel around the edges first to ensure no further paint will come off, followed by gentle scraping by hand to remove the desired paint.

thats a good idea. Would it not work if used with valve seat grinding paste instead of notching the bolt, may be less risk of damaging the face the nut sits in.
