As I am stuck here with the Corona Virus thought I would plan out the electrical circuit on Woody. Current (lol) thinking is for a battery mounted passenger side rear with positive cable running forward to a master cut off switch before moving forward to the starter and power distribution. Earth will be too chassis at the rear with a further 3 earths from the block to the chassis, chassis to the body and another, for good measure, from the block to the body. All pretty simple stuff. Question is then, anybody recommend a company to make up the required cables? Have looked on eBay, Amazon and Halfords but, before splashing out cash, wanted to hear good and bad reports or indeed any recommendations you might have. Could make them myself but by the time I have bought the right tool to secure the ends it doesn't seem financially viable. Anyway, over too you lot, suggest away. Get the equivalent sized welding leads. They're much more flexible and are usually multi strand.

You can get the right tool for 20 quid. I’ve got one of the super cheap eBay special hydraulic jobs and it works fine. Add it to your watch list and within a few days they’ll send you an ‘offer’.
I then bought a few metres of decent cable and some ends, it came in way less than premade and I have the option of whatever length is right, not the closest length they want to sell you.

Thanks Dez, I will go and have another look now. Edit - For some reason I thought that these were £100, not £27... Watching a couple, will let you know, thanks again for the heads up. P. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Ok Next question... Where are you buying your cable from? Prices seem to vary dramatically! P. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Last lot I got was from ‘cablecuts’ via eBay. 5m of 50mm squ for £36. Decent quality, no issues with it.
By the time is bought two sizes of ends, the cable and the tool, and some red heatshrink to tag the ends of the positives, I’d spent about £80, but I did 3 cars with it and still have enough left to do at least one more of not a bit more. Way cheaper than buying em premade.

TBH, given that some modern stuff from about 2004 onwards can either
-damage your car -be damaged by jump starting them if not done correctly
I'd just get a jump pack. It's easier, quicker, and more of a lifesaver when you are in the middle of nowhere.
However, if leads are required, I'd do what Dez said.

Making new cables is best, but if your working to a budget e39 and e46 BMW's have some very useful cables in them.
