Thank you for posting those pics Nigel.
Well, back home, trailer unhooked, unload after work when Dennis gets home tonight.
1000 miles in the end, so a long run.
Knackered.
I am three days behind on the write up, but it has been kinda nonstop.
Update later when I get back from buying a fridge/freezer.
Yup….. chores are chores.

So Saturday there was a load of things to do. Breakfast with Dorothy and Dennis, thanks Deb. Then Dennis and I headed to another hardware store to get some stainless domed bolts for the Chevelle He is fitting Vintage Air to it, and as will all his builds he is going way too good….. I noticed the gloves we used get loads of pairs of, had gone up a lot in price, even the more basic ones are now expensive. But still worth having as these work well. Back home I just helped with observations while Dennis put more of the car together, It will all be torn down once the body comes off for paint and the chassis gets a “quick check over and Craigslist restoration” Frozen Jim Beam Orange……. What a revelation. Tyler had brought me the Jim Beam and a Smith and Wesson T-Shirt. Later on, it was Tripp’s second birthday party. People coming from near and far. I got to hug, greet and holler at many friends. At age 78, Dennis’ aunt still works, driving prisoners around, because she is not ready to stop working, she retired years ago, but could not stay at home doing nothing, this is such a country of contrasts. Older people are both valued for their skills and knowledge and make up a great part of the core of society. Roger and Debbie who have the backyard burnout strip and hot rod party every year came over too. I believe I will make the party this year. Brad with young Banks were as chilled as anything. I ended up with Banks willing with me for half an hour. Bryan and Katie were here as well. Bryan loves me more than he loves his wife….. You can see that. One of Dennis’ friends has a young son who started racing. These things are just insane. Food was great and I actually headed home by 9.00pm as I was shattered. But as always, this place and the people make me happy and fill my mojo tank to the brim.

Good to see you having an awesome time. The like button seem pretty pathetic as an applaud to your adventures Ttfn Glenn Thank you Glenn. The like button is cool. But written replies are even more appreciated. Unfortunately I am having a real struggle with uploading YouTube content here. 5G and it has still not loaded a 19 minute Day one video on 48 plus hours.

Sunday morning as you know now, broke early and Dennis bought a 34 Ford 5 window before breakfast to the dismay of some…… So after breakfast we got a few more studs tightened from the inside of the firewall to carry the pump in the engine bay. We started the car up to see that everything was working as it should. Next job was to jump into the Blazer Dennis bought from Colorado and restored over the last year. Right down to a new dash panel, and alloy wheels. It looks amazing. As expected. So we got more bolts and nuts and headed home. Did some more work, videos will eventually be loaded. Daughter in law Hanna got to drive it over to their place to load some picnic tables and chairs…… Panicking of course. But check the interior as well. He is not a perfectionist. Late Afternoon spent over at Bryan’s place. 9 cats (one slutty one and 2 sets of kittens) and a 6 month old French bulldog, so happy to be around pets. Bryan’s friend Ben did the smoked chicken wings. I am sure most of you have one, know how they work etc. But to me, a smoker that has its own automated feed that you can control off your mobile phone……. Witchcraft. The steaks, sausages etc from it were amazing as well. And the grilled Shrimp as they call it, we say fresh water prawns, and then scallops too……. Seriously….. this is the land of opportunity. Opportunity to have a heart attack a day. A load of fun, and when we mentioned Kelly (remember her) sitting in my shoulders at Ethyls I was suddenly the horse again. As per drinking protocol when you are out in the sticks…. Dennis took my for a hard drive in Bryan’s new family toy….. 2023 Polaris RZR Pro R Review: 225 HP Isn't Even the Best Part 2023 Polaris RZR Pro R 4 Specs Powertrain 1,997cc DOHC four-cylinder | continuously variable automatic transmission | selectable four-wheel drive Horsepower 225 Ground Clearance 16 inches This thing is just stupid. Even in Sport mode, not Race mode, it is a tyre shredding, smoking screamer…… on tar. Eventually we headed home and Dennis and I had a quiet beer in the workshop. Finalising plans (there were no real plans) for my TURN and BURN road trip with Jerry to go fetch the 34 Ford over in Westend Kansas in a town called Ellis. Pick up time, 05.00 for the 500 mile run through in Jerrys truck with trailer. Life is good, and I am thankful for what I get to share in.

In short: hateful bigotted idiots don't like different people, got triggered by Bug Light. Cried. It was pretty pathetic to see, but I guess Murica gonna Murica. Whilst I respect your opinion can I just say that one side being able to attack the other "hatefull bigoted idiots" whilst people with other views can't reply for fear of moderation is what has torn the autoshite forum apart and destroyed its very nature. IMO this isn't the correct place or forum for either[/I] side to vent on

Looks like a GREAT trip Grizz. We're getting itchy, only 5 days until we land in California to start our road trip. Sadly El Mirage is still flooded so my 50 year old itch might go unscratched.

It isn't "another view", it is bigotry ... if you don't like being told about your bigotry that is for you to have a think on, not for other people to mollycoddle and protect your views. I'm sure there is a safe space somewhere online for you to not be told of it and protect yourself from criticism. But that place isn't here, and I won't stand for it. If you are finding other places are also not tolerating that, then maybe look inside. Anyway let's not derail grizz 's thread ... you know where I stand on this now, make your choices.

Sounds like another great adventure grizz, thanks for sharing! The distances involved in a "road trip" are just mad, a 30 mile journey is considered "a long way" by my friends and family!

Personally I think it was a disastrous marketing idea with a complete failure to understand your key market, almost on par with Ratner's "we sell curse word" comment, but hey don't let that stop you making assumptions and throwing personal insults to people you don't know in the slightest. Last word no more derailing of Grizz's thread.

Still trying to find a 6 hour straight sleep kinda night. Broken nights every night since I got there. As always, sleep is a struggle for me, so I just keep going. Thanks for the replies overnight, I will reply when I have had my mug of Tetleys. In the mean time, I hope HoTWire leaves the replies in the thread so that others can see them. This “problem” is not going to go away, so maybe we (me included) should try to let the thread be more about the random experience of travelling the USA as a guest to the many generous people I continue to meet and not debating the merits of all the varied political and sexual opinions . Opinions, sadly, are like asssholes, everyone has one and on a forum like this, where they often drag the main theme of a thread or chat off course, it becomes distracting and destructive. I would rather have David post a reply on here saying thank you, or wow, nice car/truck/BBQ or whatever, than him having to post admonishments. So back to the normal transmission. Stand by for a 1000 mile run through Kansas……… trust me, it is boooooorrrriiiiiiinnng !!!

It’s great to plenty of smiles , keep enjoying it Grizz life is for living 👍sad times as you know here recently but this thread is both heartening and amusing Enjoy buddy Thanks Dan. You will be amazed at the amount of nice, friendly people over here. I spent 10 minutes in Walmart yesterday speaking to a lady about the trip, my American experience and why I was looking for a Realtree hoody for Sally. Everyone of us wants to be happy, acknowledged and be a part of something bigger. Did I spot a Nissan Cube in the first lot of pics ? second observation, judging by the last 3 days you are going to need a holiday when you get back to the UK keep on trucking, eating, drinking and grinning and posting pics, we love them That is a Nissan Cube yes. Dennis’ aunt who still drives a prisoner transport every day, despite retiring successfully years ago managed to tear a front valence off, reversing back onto the driveway after parking on the lawn for the birthday party, so Dennis had to repair that for her. Rian, looks like an awesome time you're having there and it has just begun! Cheers! Thank you very much. Yes, this week is actually going to be spent here at home at Dennis’ place, doing just local stuff. I will hit the road next week. Looks like a GREAT trip Grizz. We're getting itchy, only 5 days until we land in California to start our road trip. Sadly El Mirage is still flooded so my 50 year old itch might go unscratched. Dang, yes the weather is a bit very rubbish right now. Hope you still do loads of cool stuff. Magic ! ... memories ... Indeed. And the giving just keeps happening. I am amazed at how many people want a slice of me. And also those reaching out all the way from Californication like my old friend of many years, long before the road trips, Eric Gus Marquardt sent me this message yesterday I’m a broken record. You gotta visit us here in the “left coast”. We have many car museums that will knock your socks off. I believe the junkyards here are too picked over and high priced. Too many people are picking the cars clean. Yer doing better in the boondocks where they can park cars for decades w/o using valuable real estate.
Have fun and think about a 3 day or so visit here. Cheers, Gus. So there are so many options, but my legs are just not long enough to go everywhere. Looks like a GREAT trip Grizz. We're getting itchy, only 5 days until we land in California to start our road trip. Sadly El Mirage is still flooded so my 50 year old itch might go unscratched. arrhh man gutted for you i had to cancel my Cali trip as got put up for redundancy and cancelled the purchase of the mgb last week of the planned trip had that hurricane move in and earthquakes so just as well we were not there hope the trip is fun , been to Cali twice before , love it!! Good to hear you have survived the current restructuring mate. Yes, stuff certainly often happens for reasons not to apparent. Good to see you enjoying life Grizz, 👍👍 Thanks John, This trip is already different to previous ones, and will hopefully carry on being different and throwing up both challenges and rewards. Sounds like another great adventure grizz, thanks for sharing! The distances involved in a "road trip" are just mad, a 30 mile journey is considered "a long way" by my friends and family! LOL….. Yes, I was telling Jerry about the U.K. perception on distance for many people. Where you could offer someone a free car, 3 miles away, and they decline because of the distance. I declined a BMW 525 wagon with 9 month MoT and full tank a few years ago from buddy Craig because I did not have space, but distance is less of an issue for me. The rewards are often in the trip and logistics. Chevy Astro van being a case in point.
