We are planning a roadtrip to the rr show this summer, planned to cross the UK in 2 weeks and end the trip in Leicester at the RR show... this will be our route.. roughly: Duinkerken- Dover Canterbury Brighton Stonehenge (yes I kow but have to see it...) Bath (take some pics at the royal crescent) Cotswalds (been there before as a kid and I know the roads are great) Birmingham (just have to see the selfridges dept store) Liverpool (just for being there) Lake district (same reason as the cotswalds) Manchester Leicester just tell me if you think some place is rubbish and more tell me where we have to go!!! we like old stuff as well as modern stuff, but most of all great driving roads.!!! this will be our ride : if someone lives on the route and has a pint for us, just give us a call...

When you leave Manchester (go check out the Imperial War Museum if you like funky buildings) head towards Sheffield on the A57, also known as the Snake Pass.... This is on the Honister Pass in the Lake District, the B5289 south out of Keswick ;D

Cool - sounds like a cool road trip Though obviously to us, it all seems a little less romantic than if you were say visiting the great landmarks across mainland Europe ;D Shame you are not bringing the Derby - but the Celica is definately equally cool! Look forward to seeing you at the RR show

yeah I know but we're not doing it for the sake of a romantic trip The Derby is not ready yet, and needs to much work to give great driving fun.. so maybe next year we could've decided to take the swift, but that's a last minute option if the celica decides to die on us before we leave

From Manchester to Leicester, I'd recommend coming any scenic route you can. The A6 or A53 is a good bet for this through the Peak District.
From Bath to Birmingham via the Cotswolds can be made into a nice route as well. In the Cotswolds try and stop at Bourton on the Water, it's just off the A429 (Fosse Way?). A very nice village indeed and a good spot for a photo of your car if you can get a space on the main street.

royal crescent meeting has to be done!
I think I know Bourton on the water, we've been in Chalford Hill once for 4 weeks when i was a kid and we visited some villages in the cotswalds. Therefore I knew Bath is worth a visit.

If you're doing a Stonehenge visit, then I'd stay on the A303 for a bit (35 miles) and go to the Haynes museum before heading up to Bath. www.haynesmotormuseum.comIf you're still in a museum mood after the Haynes, then the Fleet Air Museum ( www.fleetairarm.com ) is nearby too.
