I think the work you've shown us speaks for itself, if I were that good with upholstery I'm sure I'd be constantly busy with it too. I hope he makes the living he deserves from his work, I'm seriously impressed. If I was as good i would give up the day job, going to do the head liner myself but that's pretty flat and Kim has toldme the best way to go about it. Must admit the budget I set myself for this project is totally starting to go out of the window. Bought a new rear axle for it at the weekend but how could i refuse £40 and already powder coated and it was delivered to Santa Pod for me at the weekend.

Not much to report except the dash is coming on nicely and the whole car is not far off being primed. However a 2nd hand set of coilies came my way and ended up on the daily

Liking this a lot, it's a cool Passat. Liking the look of your daily too, quite similar to mine, same colour estate B3, mines a 1.6d base spec 'L' but with the colour coded bumpers and no roof bars.
This is only a really small thing, but with the van I think it would work quite well to paint the B-pillar area above where the door skin's a little longer than the window black, it just has a slightly odd line to the back of the door as it is, and I think it would tie things in a little better. Unfortunately I've not got photoshop at the moment, but I'm hoping you'll understand what I mean.

Had people say I should have lenghtend the doors but you have to draw the line somewhere and astra vans etc are only based on estate cars with no rear doors, still be interested to see your photo chop if you get it up and running My daily fairly basic, it'd 19td unwelt engine, has electric front windows and sunroof. Didn't have roof bars when I bought it, fitted them to take our roof box when we went on holiday, also fitted tow bar to tow the trailer tent we now have

Cool, yeah, mine's super basic, no electric anything and no sunroof, although it has got a towing hitch and they gave me what I assume is a set of saloon roof bars with it that fit without the need for the rails. I think the length of the doors is fine as it is, they short doors work ok on vans and pick-ups in my eyes. I was thinking something like this (yay for paint!), just a splash of black paint to match the window rubbers to tidy up the doors lines really: The original for comparison:

Love my daily now Ive lowered it, low and slow, bit like going back to air cooled VW's with out the rust and ownership premium ;D Roof bars did come in two lenths for the estate car, i want a short pair or a pait to cut up to fit on the inside of my van

Cheers dude, Nick should have it in primer next week.
I am thinking of getting a price to see what it would cost to convert the volvo speedo to a digital one if it it's possible, that way I would have all the information I need in that one cluster

Just a quick hello from a fellow Lowestoftian! Been reading through this thread whilst bored at work, shame some of the pictures don't seem to work for me but it seems an epic build!
I can't for the life of me remember seeing the van about but for some reason the number plate seems familiar.

Looking forward to seeing some paint on this, covering up all your hard work and showing it off at the same time.
I know you've used metal for your dash and welded it together, but have you any experience modifying plastic dashboards? I'm going to be modifying mine mostly by attaching a new pod to the top and smoothing off the underside, and I want it to not fall apart.

Vans been a van about 3 years, it was an estate car with welded up back doors about 4 years ago and before that it was pottering around town for a year as a silver gt Passat lowered on ATS Cups , 5 years in my ownership this December which probably about the longest I have ever owned one car. Used to be my daily until a couple of years ago and was always parked on the street as I had no garage then and we don't have a drive. Will have to go through my thread and try and get the pics that are missing back up when I have time

Daily looking cool, bet local peeps just think you've put windows back in yours now.. Hi Steve, how are you and Wendy doing? Would love those roof bars, I would shorten them and put them to good use in the van. Daily drives real nice now, reminds me a little of driving an old air cooled VW again without the rust issues ;D low slow and a distinctive engine noise ;D How do you do multi quote's, anyone know

Ive tried welding plastic with a soldering iron with limited success so I can't really help you on that one, but what ever you do keep us posted I'm also really looking forward to getting it painted and back together and enjoying and thinking about the next stage Daily needs some banded steels on the rear ;D

My cousin used to live very close to where you park/parked your car. But still for the life of me I can't remember seeing the car as a van lol. Can't wait to see it on the road, I'll make sure to drive past and have a good look when it's all done. I'm going to have to keep an eye on this build!
