for 9K i'd think it would need to be an M535 - this one looks more like 3.5K at a push IMO

well you can as the big auto breakers nr crawley / peaspottage got stuffed by mr vat man years back as they undercut everyone at the time and then mr vat came round and said where is my cut. (apparently)
so now when ever you buy things from them they say a proce and then add vat onto it when you have spent 30 mins plus in the wet cold n rain trying to rip the bit off

no VAT, no receipt, no come-back ^ quite right sir. there was a Skoda dealer near me wanted SIX GRAND for a 1990 rapid. It might have been good (well, it was) but that was the time when I was buying mot'd examples for £250 and thereabouts...

There is a dealer called Platform One in Stowmarket that advertises in my local rag that has some way over price tat for sale including these,
1998 Plymouth Prowler with 13k for £39995, 1983 Mercedes 200T Estate 4 Spd Manual with 28k for £9995, 1981 Ford Cortina 1.6 Carousel with 23k for £6995 1996 BMW 328i Cab Auto with 57k for £5995 and a 1986 Ford Capri 2.0 Laser with 54k for £4995.
Strangely they have been advertising the same cars now for 4 months in the paper...

Hmm the prowler is kinda within what they fetch - anything between 25-40k, man that would be a cool car to pimp about in for the summer. With a tiny bit of work - a shave, removal of front bumpers, some fettling of the front cowl - they would look stunning. Let's have some pics In HoK Candy - such a nice colour. Never seen a modified one - strange.

Here's an idea...don't buy it.
Realistically a car like that should be worth that much. It's a lot of car and it's in good condition. I hope he gets what he's asking.
