Here's a 180B estate (810), this one a late model with endcaps on the bumpers and slightly plusher interior. Chuvit estate, Dyane, Estelle (another!), Victor FE and most interesting a Corolla coupe in the background. Is the yellow estate on the left an early Passat? Really gutting that this silver one should have been in the yard. Earlier model than the blue one above. I did have one or two bits off it for my saloon, as did another local member, but really it should still have been on the road. Personally I don't think the 810 estate is as nice as the earlier 610 version, like the one I've just sold to ScrapingScrap, but this would still make a good basis for a project. Look, they came from the factory with real plastic wood! In a later picture the Samba's tailgate has been removed, so at least stuff here was of use.

Weekly update time! Bluebird 910 saloon, one of a number in the yard. Old Austin behind, A40 or maybe A70? This is the Bluebird SSS from which I removed the 5-speed 'box for my 180B. It was very rusty, originally silver. Fiat 850, Reliant Regal and VW 1600 in the wall behind. Edit: Just noticed the Guilietta, very fond of them. My dad ran a couple for 6-7 years. A couple of late C230 Laurels, probably the 2-litre models. Aftermarket/Pardat alloys on the black one. Late Galant/Sigma, Tagora, R12 and an aircraft carrier Zephyr/Zodiac Mk4 as well. A later C31 Laurel. Spying some odd Italian plumbing under the bonnet prompted us to discover the LPG conversion. Must have been done a long time ago. And finally for this batch, a C32 like mine. This was in the yard just near the A12 outside Brentwood, taken about 1994 when it would have been a farily new car. Renault 20/30 in the background.

This US-spec 280Z was in the Woodbridge yard close to the old USAF bases. Just for Mr B, there's a Mazda estate at the bottom - rather than being a 929, I think it might have been an RX4! Seeing this picture reminded that there were possibly two of these rotary wonders in the yard, sob. J-spec Fairlady 280ZX in yard at Alconbury, again right near a USAF base.

Argh! Are there ANY of those maz 929 estates left? Anywhere? That reminds me, I must pop round to the local yard where one used to sit, maybe it's still there? HoTWire - there often seems to be a cheap 280ZX on eBay. Probably worth buying if you've got the space to break it and flog a few bits to cover your costs.

Money and space,.. now theres two things in short supply. All car stuff is on ice until after christmas. Tempting though it is I've already been nearly bankrupted by one vehicle an experience I shan't be repeating any time soon. However I managed to nearly bankrupt myself by going on luxurious holidays this year,... I never learn. Keep your eye out though if you see a 280zx,.. of a 140J (I've been reliably informed that I'll be replacing B310 axles if I start pumping too much power through them),... of and 5 speeds boxes for a-series engines... although I suspect most of headed to MG Midgets and/or exporters..

Bump. After having read one or two kind words about these pictures, I should be adding a few more now that domestic life has calmed down a bit. Already got some Cedrics scanned in, then there's pictures of the even older stuff still to go.

I used to go to that yard in woodbridge all the time Spalls I think? it always had loads of good stuff like Type 4 Varients and loads of yank stuff too.

StuyIzz, the brown 280Z was in Mills down at Hollesley, but you're right - Spalls at Dallinghoo was also a good yard. Both received a fair share of interesting old cars thanks to the airbases.
You ever go to either of the Whip St Motors yards at all?

Right, weekend update as threatened. Recognise this? It's a 130 model Cedric estate, sold as 2000 here. One of the first of the UK Datsuns, also sold in small numbers as a saloon. This one was rough! Rapier, Carina and Corsairs in the background. Here's a 260C saloon (330), also rare in the UK as they only sold them for under a year before being replaced by 280C version of 330. For some reason when 330 was launched, UK only took estates to start with. Grille and rear lights on early model nicer than facelift model's. For the sake of comparison, they'd also got a 280C in the yard, and Moskvich nextdoor? Rustproofing didn't seem to have done much good......

This wasn't a car I saw, but one found by Peter Hunter of the TEC. President 250, with a V8, lovely. This was about 1992, car was for sale about £800. Didn't sell, got vandalised then scrapped :-( Registration makes me think it might have been a car used by Octav Botnar, Datsun UK's top man. DUK imported about 6, I think 3 have been traced. Don't think this one started life as white, maybe it did wedding duties for a while? Here's another scrapper, owned by Datman.....

I'd get married just for a razz in one of those. KWALITY. He he, better than a cheesy old Roller isn't it? Our wedding cars were a Cedric 2400 (130) from Holland, and the 240C then owned by Joncedric. And we had a mini Datsun show at the wedding which also featured Datman's 180Y, Ratdat's 620 camper and my 240K (which then took us 2000 miles to Norway and back on honeymoon). Lisa can't argue she didn't know what she was letting herself in for....
