Beige 1980 MiniMetro at 16. Total POS, had been in a big smack at some point and never drove in a straight line! First time we MOT'd it my boss refused to let my dad drive it home and while we were debating whether to repair or frag it my colleagues kindly set to on a weldathon (the rear subframe mounts had fellout as well as jacking points etc) and sorted out that part. Ended up working basically gratis for ages to pay for it Thanks chaps.

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

Mk2 Escort, 1100cc and no power but the paint and exhaust made up for that! As bought when I was 16 Bit of fiddling and this is how she was when I was learning to drive then I tried to learn to drive properly, which resulted in me having to replace one side (truck only a scrape!) then I tried to learn to drive on the ring which caused this so then a colour change to this then some wheels and after a few other things she's now like this, sort of going full circle with the stickers ;D Don't think I'll ever sell it

My 1st car was a 1966 HA Viva Deluxe 90. It was 26 years old when I got it, and to be fair it was a bit rotten. engine & gearbox was good though, the previous owner had rebuilt the engine so it ran really sweet. Had it on the road for about 4 months before it got laid up. I kept it for about another 10 months before it was finally scrapped. Here is said car. Not me driving, i'm taking the photo!! I blame this car for my fascination with RWD Vauxhall's. Amongst many others, I had another 2 Viva's, a Magnum, 3 Chevettes, about 9 Senator's and i'm currently on my 7th Carlton!!

My first car was a 1985 Mini City E which I bought in 2004. I was pretty desperate to get my hands on a Mini, and this came up at a bargain price. It hadn't been on the road in 5 years and had a seized clutch arm. My dad freed it up easily much to the previous owners disgust and we drove it home with no tax/mot etc :\ Was a remarkably solid little car though: I sold it shortly after and never had it on the road. My first road car was a 92 Mayfair which I see as my first car I spent a summer searching for the right car. My parents were visiting family near York, so I called my dad about this car in Manchester. It had 38k on the clock, loads of history and basically it was in great nick. This is how it looked when I sold it: I loved that car, sold it because I stopped using it once I got a company car. Regret it hugely, ah well!
