I don't know if this has been done previously, if it has apologies. If not what was your first car? If you as old as me then your first car will be classed as a retro. This was mine a 1979 Datsun Cherry 1.0 of pure power (not actual car but the same shape, model and colour) Cheers, Stu.

My first car was a Triumph Dolomite in brown....nice... ....which I crashed in front of a Policeman. I was on private land though, so he just gave me a right bollocking. Plus, I was only 14 at the time. Still, £40 well spent. Chris

This was my first car: Or rather this was where it ended up. It was a 954cc AX Dimension (with fuel injection ;D) and no other luxuries. I had it for 6 months before a careless driver pulled out of a junction without looking and went in to the side of me Despite the accident occouring at about 5mph (i was in traffic at the time ) it managed to bend the A B and C pillars, rendering it useless. We then took it to mates farm where we used to rant it over his land and down his lanes but one day it died here. Before it died though it was a pretty good car, comedy handling, 50mpg, quite comfy and i even had 101mph out of it on an airfield one day ;D ;D ;D

First car I ever owned was one of these: NAB333D was a Goodwood Green Ford Cortina Mk1 1200 Deluxe 4-door which cost me £40 from Bromsgrove Car Auctions in 1978. Daddy Damaged drove it home as it still taxed/MOT'd, but it had rumbly big-ends. It didn't matter about those, because I had just turned 14. I trimmed the interior with white fur, put a set of 1600E Rostyles on it and wheelspun it up and down the driveway to my heart's content. ;D The first car I had on the road once I'd passed my driving test in July 1983 was one of these: KOB524E was a 1967 Triumph 2000, finished in Olive Green with ripped green leather trim, no carpet, four Lucas spotlights on the front and (if I remember correctly) a 'Smile Surf Shop- Newquay' sticker in the back window. It cost me (get this) £110 with 13 months MOT, and a measly £40 to insure for the year. At the time, most of my peers had Minis, many of which were new and bought by their parents on 'The Scheme' at what was then Austin Rover. How they laughed at my then 16 year-old matted green leviathan...until they got in. I'd love to say that I cherished it lovingly, and it set me on a path to Classic Car ownership. The truth is, I ragged the living s**t out of it, going through three engines (two 2000's and a 2500) and two gearboxes in the first six months of ownership, along with numerous pairs of back tyres (which I got quite adept at filching from my local suppliers over the back fence....). I sold it to a mate who left it in a car park for a couple of years, then ran it himself for a while before selling it to some banger racers. I actually got to watch it die at Hednesford in 1989!!!

A Mk2 Escort estate 1.3L in beige. Looked like this: I had it for 18 months and drove all over N. Ireland in it whilst as a student. By the end it had 6 front lights with hawks painted on the sides, together with being held together by duct tape. Oh, and the remnants of a bale of hay in the back!

Current vehicle collection: 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible - in mid-life crisis yellow No new retro as yet ... all attempts to sneak one onto the drive have failed.
