And so it begins................ I dropped the engine in so i knew exactly were the loom had to travel to and what it had to miss........after an hour or two the engine bay started looking like this: Bit of a mess, had to make a hole in the bulkhead for the loom to pass through but found a perfect spot that will be well hidden when all is back together. So far ive ran all the wires needed to the engine harness and MAP sensor, which ive soldered&heatshrinked......just got to do run the wires for the coil and ign module(which i still don't have ) then all underbonnet stuff related to the ECU is done........then onto underdash stuff hate doing underdash wiring!!!! Since ive been trying to just get "into it" ive not had the chance to take many pictures along the way, but before the engine went in i modified the alternator bracket: Lost the bottom part as it was the bracket for the PAS pump, not required here! I was fiddling around with the sprung-loaded tensioner for the alt drive belt......and it kinda shattered and broke so have started fabbing up a manual setup which will just about do the job........pics when i remember Off now for some more muti-coloured mayhem! Progress update! It seems ive got to the point of running out of jobs to do, still missing some bits and some bits i cant do here due to lack of talent and a welder Here is a couple of pics: I knew that the 'bay would be a bit tight in places but wasnt quite expecting it to be sooooo full when everything was plumbed up......so full on the offside that you cant get your hand in! ;D The engine now turns over on the key which is cool, the ecu loom isnt finished yet and wont be fitted until i have the last pieces of the puzzle which will hopefully be sorted by next week Gearbox is fitted and tunnel cover&handbrake modded for the new gearstick position, i was gonna get the remote part of the 'box shortened so the gearstick came out more or less in the same place as the 1256 'box but decided against that as it would have caused problems if the gearbox ever needed changing. Things left to do: Finish ECU loom Propshaft Finish fuel system Find&fit water header tank Make side-exit exhaust ;D Construct a throttle cable Wire up electric fan Tidy up interior and mod centre console Put some petrol in and burn rubber!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Steve

the linkage is easily removed two 13mm bolts & a clip , so could be fitted to a replacement in seconds

Looks quite tidy in there. The type 9 linkage and tailhousing can be swapped over fairly easy without any special tools. I'll come over if you want and go through it, can cut it there and then too if you want? Upto you.

Thanks for the comments chaps my work is far away from show finish but should be usable for the time being until it gets stripped down again when the bodywork gets sorted then i'll make it all pretty under the bonnet ;D Ive just got off the phone with a gent regarding the last couple of electrical bits needed to make this run, should hopefully see them before the end of the week so if all goes to plan there may be a running video up by sunday ;D very excited indeed!!!!! Well my hopes of having a running car this weekend hasnt happened still waiting for the ignition module&CO adjustment thingy to arrive but have finished up some other jobs Finish ECU loom Propshaft Finish fuel system90% done, bit untidy in the boot Find&fit water header tankDONE Make side-exit exhaust - Ive decided I'm gonna make a full-length system Construct a throttle cableDONE Wire up electric fan Tidy up interior and mod centre consoleDONE just need to refit passenger seat Put some petrol in and burn rubber!!!!! Hopefully the prop will be in the process of being made sometime in the week, exhaust should be done by tuesday........then its just a case of finishing the last bit of wiring and test drive ;D I'm hoping that the module&CO thingy turn up tomorrow, if so then i will be attempting to get the engine running...........who cares that it might be a tad loud with just a front-pipe fitted ;D More pics eitherway tomorrow Steve
