Good stuff. Just a thought, the last time I cut a sump like that I added some "wings" to get back the capacity. As you are turbo charging might be a good idea considering the heat.

Looks like fun! Just a thought, but are you planning to beef up the crossmember? Especially now it's been cut. I'm just thinking about how the typical small block V8 crossmember looks, in comparison to yours.

Thanks for the kind words guys Things have slowed this week. Aside from a boring evening where I chose the hard path and hand picked paint off the gearbox for what felt like hours with naff all to show for it...not much else has occurred Good stuff. Just a thought, the last time I cut a sump like that I added some "wings" to get back the capacity. As you are turbo charging might be a good idea considering the heat. I'd considered putting wings in but space constraints either side and behind the sump won't allow for it I will be using an oil cooler though so some extra capacity will come with that although minimal

I'm just thinking about how the typical small block V8 crossmember looks, in comparison to yours. Crossmember will be getting filled back in with 3mm plate which will be plenty strong enough, might plate the underside of the crossmember with 2mm if I feel its needed but its pretty beefy as it stands. The rear legs will be getting filler plates put in to help resist flex but considering the whole assembly is still rubber-mounted to the body there will still be some "give" to it all.....

Just caught up Steve, great to see loads of progress (and sorry to hear about your dad). Hope you're getting a chance to keep ticking away at it, be fantastic to see a turbo'd V8 viva!

Not much to report unfortunately as I've been busy prepping a car for the missus & mate to get to Download festival (fussy driver that can only drive automatic and wouldn't drive the Merc) so had to buy a beater and get it into roadworthy shape for her! Will get back on it soon I promise

Not exactly made great progress with this as I just suck with time management Did finally finish removing all the black paint off the gearbox mylittletony offered up a single-plain inlet manifold for sensible money so grabbed that And just because they popped up close-by.....bought some wheels that may be persuaded to fit but uber heavy so may rethink that Grand plans of actual progress may happen....probably won't. STAY TUNED! *be patient*

Can you hurry up with this please, I'm interested to hear your experience with the Holley, for reasons... You can't fit a Sniper setup on an MX5 engine And I suspect you'll have owned whatever car you intend to use it on.....and sold said car.....then bought something else by the time this thing makes noise! Need to pull the 305 apart again as I'm not happy with how it turns over so that'll take even more time I don't have...
