[quote P.S - If anyone should happen to know for a std size piston to suit then let me know [/quote] I believe there's a Triumph motorbike engine that uses pistons of very similar dimensions to the Daimler Love the engine direction this has taken though, keep the updates coming

Bookmarked! How heavy are these Daimler v8s? My old boss has a Dart and it sounds lovely! Very sweet engines.

Excited to see this coming together. 140bhp as stock IIRC - but they can make plenty more, especially with boost. Fairly heavy lump TBH, being iron-block, but a lovely little engine. If it's got the stock cam and fuelling's anywhere near right it'll tick over at 600rpm making sod-all noise.

Cheers chaps It was always on the cards to get a bent-8 in there eventually but this is a bit more fitting than just chucking in any old yank motor so makes me twice as happy to make it happen! As James says its a bloody heavy motor, a good 60-70odd kg's over the twink coming out so will be sorting the front suspension to suit as well as start looking into upgrading the front brakes (ran the standard 1256 brakes all this time....had fade ONCE ) No progress to report yet but will be getting back on it at the weekend Peace

Boring update I'm afraid...Removed the servo and its mounting bracket as I will be either going remote servo or just ditching it all together as its taking up too much space and generally just cluttering the engine bay so...byebye to you! And managed to get the grinder out and flat off a few dollops of weld I filled some holes in with when the battery tray was removed last year Hopefully will start chopping up the sump tomorrow if mojo persists and get that somewhere near right so I can get it tig'd back up and then on to engine mounts Just started yet another job but with 90% less stress so once I'm settled into that I can really start cracking into this in the evenings and make ACTUAL progress! Laters Steve

Dull update time No major forward movement since last time. Started chopping up the sump so as to get the block sitting lower, needs more work and I suspect I will need to put a notch in the back of the crossmember in order to tip the motor back a little so the bellhousing will clear the bulkhead. I'll put some pics up soon as currently stuck with just a phone for Internet usage! I did obtain a second engine in the hopes it would either be in better nick as a Base or would at least yield parts for the other but when it turned up there appeared to be all bar one sparkplug missing and on removing the heads all the bores were shot and all 8 pistons stuck fast! Happy I wasn't so it's currently soaking in the hopes it can get the one decent looking piston free without damage for the other block.....fingers crossed. Only saving grace is the scrapper motor had a decent crank and all main bearing caps are good so might be able to use them on my block and line bore to suit...we shall see. In recent days I've been thinking about just tidying up the engine bay & chucking the twink back in as I miss using the car, seems to spend more time sat up than being used which makes me sad.... More soon Steve

Might be a good idea putting the twink back in as it sounds as if that hemi won't be making noise anytime soon

Please let me be clear on this...the twink will only be going back in until I can get the funds uptogether to build up the Daimler motor, it's a plan I fully intend to complete Something I've been thinking about chap but to make a decent job of it I'd have to purchase some decent management and that just isn't viable at present currently pouring all available funds into my Tigra to make that usable (build thread to come at some point) so everything Viva related is on hold till at least Feb

If you can still use the car while you save up for hemi parts it's got to be better than just leaving it sat in the garage. Oh and if once you've aquired the parts to build the hemi you change your mind it would look awesome in my Lanchester

I love thing Steve, it's what I had planned to do with my ever stagnant magnum. To be honest I've lost that much mojo that I'm thinking of selling the Daimler engine and continuing with the twink I have in mine too, it just seems much easier in the long run. (Plus I'm incredibly lazy). If you need another engine keep me in mind, it's still on the pallet and all wrapped up from when I bought it.....[/ashamed]
