I know what you mean mate, i had seen what you were using but manta's aint all that common anymore and as such prices do seem to be creeping up I'm considering the volvo if i can find one cheap enough, and i have had a quick look at Frontera Sport axles.......discs, five-link and might even be somewhere close on width but aint so sure on the gear ratio...........i will be investigating further

I'm probably wrong ( I usually am ) but would something like a Triumph dolly sprint have a smiler set up to a viva.

Not sure on the mountings BUT i do know that the triumph axle has been fitted to a viva before.....not sure how much power they would take though and ive got to keep that in mind as this wont be staying N/A for long

A mate of mine used to have a dolly 1850 that he dropped a modified TR7 lump in to. Granted it wasn't as powerful as what you have in mind but he thrashed the thing to within an inch of its life, and the axle took it in its stride.

Have a look for a Scimitar axle, they seem quite common and are spot on width wise. The diffs are the same as the old Jags so different ratios can be fitted or even a LSD. Also if you break one your name will go down in history. I keep meaning to look into making a Jig off my spare 1256 axle so i can just get the Scimitar set up on the bench.

I hadnt forgot the Scimitar axles, but they too are getting harder to find and pricey if one came along cheapish id snap it up! Just trying to look outside the "box", there must be sumat out there that no-one has thought about using

Small update chaps Couple of weeks ago i finished painting the rocker cover: Quite pleased how it turned out And today i gave the exhaust a couple of coats of VHT Black: Went over Area52 last weekend where Rich kindly sorted out my curse word excuse for an exhaust, we removed the centre silencer and made the thing fit without knocking and blowing now it has a nice growl when pressing on but reasonably quiet when rollin' through town. Many thanks to Bruce for letting me use the A52 ramp and Rich for taking the time to sort my mess out ;D Other than the above, ive hardly touched the car! Its been dead reliable and hasnt put a foot wrong.............its almost boring so gonna start planning the next phase of the project soon watch this space Steve
